Jennifer Lawrence Removed From Hunger Games Posters In Israel.

Filming has officially begun on the Wonder Woman movie, and to mark the occasion Warner Bros. released a first image and more details on who’s joining Gal Gadot in the cast. “Almost 75 years in the making…#WonderWoman is underway,” Gadot wrote on Twitter, sharing the photo of the heroine, wearing a dark cloak that still leaves part of her famous costume visible as London’s Big Ben stands in the background. The Red Mighty Morphin Power Ranger balloon will be taking its second flight this year at the 89th Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on Thursday, November 26.Fearing they the standard theatrical posters would be vandalized by religious extremists, promotional art for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part Two has removed the lead character in two Israeli neighborhoods. With more than two decades as one of the most successful entertainment properties in television, there wouldn’t be much need for a special reason the Red Ranger to morph into a helium balloon and cruise the Big Apple — but it can’t hurt that there’s a big-budget feature film in the works, which just made casting announcements and seems to be moving forward at an impressive pace after years in development limbo. Taking to Twitter to reveal the first official image from the film production, Gal Gadot has released a new photo of herself as Wonder Woman—or perhaps just the Princess Diana—on the set of the movie.

If the previous images we have seen of Chris Pine in the role of U.S. pilot Chris Pine are any indication, it would likely appear that Wonder Woman is in London in time for World War II… best of luck with the Blitzkrieg, there. While the story itself makes it sound like Israeli law would supercede those local bans and allow the posters to hang if the studio wanted, the decision has been made to be sensitive to local sentiment, since there is a history of previous posters being defaced in those communities. “Unfortunately we are subject to unofficial coercion that forces us to be more careful,” said Liron Suissam VP of marketing at Nu Star Media, which is handling the Mockingjay posters. “We have had endless vandalization, and clients prefer not to take the chance. The character will first appear in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice when that film hits theaters this coming spring, before her solo film arrives on June 23, 2017. The decision is the client’s.” The poster, which depicted Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everden against the backdrop of a fiery mockingjay sigil, has been replaced with a similar poster where that Katniss has been removed, leaving only the logo and text. The film is being directed by Patty Jenkins (Monster) and it stars in addition to Gadot and Pine, Nicole Kidman as an Amazonian warrior, Robin Wright (House of Cards), Danny Huston (Children of Men), David Thewlis (Harry Potter), Said Taghmaoui (American Hustle), Elena Anaya (The Skin I Live In), and Lucy Davis (Shaun of the Dead).

Joining Jenkins behind the camera are director of photography Matthew Jensen (“Chronicle,” “Fantastic Four,” HBO’s “Game of Thrones”), Oscar-nominated production designer Aline Bonetto (“Amélie,” “A Very Long Engagement,” “Pan”), and Oscar-winning editor Martin Walsh (“Chicago,” “Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit,” “V for Vendetta”), and Oscar-winning costume designer Lindy Hemming (“The Dark Knight” trilogy, “Topsy-Turvy”).
