Kate Middleton Debuts Shorter Hair, Recycles a Chic Peplum Outfit Alongside Prince William.

LONDON — Prince William and his wife Kate have helped broker deals at a finance firm’s charity drive — though they didn’t emulate two male traders who donned hot pants as part of the colorful annual event.Standing next to a line of men dressed in smart jackets, denim hot pants and heels, Prince William managed to gain his composure enough to secure a deal worth 500 million Czech Krona. While the focus of the event was to raise money and aid those less fortunate, we couldn’t help but focus on the brunette beauty’s chic ensemble—not that we’re ever surprised by her outstanding wardrobe. The royal couple joined celebrities — including the prime minister’s wife, Samantha Cameron and actress Carey Mulligan — alongside costume-wearing brokers at ICAP’s charity day.

Kate, 33, looked the part in a chic teal LK Bennett peplum suit and dark heels (and a shorter hairstyle!), as she and William, 33, were met at the doors by Lord Mayor of London Jeffery Evans and ICAP Chief Executive Michael Spencer, before moving inside to “close” deals with traders from across the globe. The fundraising event sees the global brokerage firm donate a day’s revenue and commissions to charity, with the staff dressing up to complete their trades.

Some of the organisations supported by the Duke and Duchess are set to benefit this year – SkillForce, of which William is patron, as well as SportsAid and Place2Be which Kate represents. As for the cherry on top, it seems Duchess Kate has chopped some length off her signature chestnut tresses and got a bouncy blowout after debuting side bangs in September. Since its start in 1993, the event has generated $190 million for charities and has become a regular pre-holiday outing for the royals, with William, Prince Harry and Prince Charles, all manning the fundraising phones over the years. The couple laughed and giggled as they met groups of outlandishly dressed brokers, none more so than the ‘’ men of the Central European MIRS Desk, who deal in interest rate swaps. In fact, she rocked this exact outfit years ago in 2012, except she embellished the look with a black hat and black gold-plated suede belt at the time.

The team had based their costumes on the infamous television advert which shows a man gyrating down the street in stilettos to the Pussycat Dolls tune ‘Don’t Cha (wish your girlfriend was hot like me).’ Nigel Halligan displayed his hairy pins to the Duchess – but kicked off his heels the minute she left, saying: ‘I really don’t know how you women do it! She’s reused several ensembles in the same week, which makes her even more lovable because it’s a reminder that she’s really just like us—except she has a key to the crown jewels.

On Monday, William turned his attention to the subject of child bullying during an anti-bullying workshop run by the charity named after his late mother, the Diana Award. I certainly took her advice on that one.’ The couple started their tour of the noisy trading floor at the Hollywood-themed Fixed Income European Repo Products desk where suited William appeared to be in his element.

Queen Elizabeth II gave the Lover’s Knot tiara to Diana as a gift on her wedding day to Prince CharlesIt hadn’t been worn in public since 1997, the same year Diana was tragically killed in a car crash. Tomorrow, Kate will visit Action On Addiction in Warminster, Wiltshire, to discover more about how the centre provides training, education and professional development for people working with addiction and related fields. Are you sure you don’t come in like this every day?’ Kate, meanwhile, displayed a less aggressive tone, asking her trader on the end of the phone: ‘Good morning, how are you?’ and passing a few more pleasantries before sealing the deal.

Before the couple hit the floor again there was time for a quick game of mixed doubles table tennis with British bright hopes Marcus Giles and Denise Payet, courtesy of SportsAid who had brought a table into the City offices. ‘Come on, lets try and have more than a rally of more two goes,’ teased William, adding to his famously competitive wife: ‘You’re not normally this polite when we normally play.’ Ian Hunt, dressed as Homer Simpson, left Kate speechless when he told her that she and her husband had just conducted a deal with two British banks worth 200 billion Euros each – part of a two to four trillion Euro deal in a huge de-risking exercise across the financial markets. It’s good to speak to you again.’ Before they left there was just time to join a group of traders dressed in lederhosen. ‘It’s a bit crazy down this end, lots of funny fancy dress,’ exclaimed the prince. Some said the cropped style looked healthy and fresh, whilst others hailed it ‘boring.’ Although that might not seem a radical departure for many, it’s brave move for the Duchess who has sported the same style, which used to flow way past her shoulders, since she was a teenager. Commenting on the new look she said today: ‘We absolutely love Kate’s fresh new style – it looks fabulous now that she has taken a few inches off of the length. Andrew Jose, award-winning hairdresser and Brand Ambassador for Salon Science said: ‘Kate looks incredible with this new low maintenance and effortless ‘midi’ style.

Easy to style and simple to maintain, it’s no wonder with two small children why Kate has opted for this do. ‘Known for her signature long flowing mane of hair, Kate’s hair had become very long, which was making it look flat at the crown whilst swamping her features. It also accentuates her cheekbones and draws attention to her eyes. ‘Not only has this new cut given Kate’s hair more bounce and shape, but it instantly makes her hair look healthier. By simply snipping off the damaged ends of hair which are chronologically much older than the mid lengths, it can be quite transformative. ‘2015 has definitely been the year of the shorter cut and Kates new look is no exception! Among the other famous faces attending the event are William’s uncle, Earl Spencer – who left before his nephew arrived – Samantha Cameron, Joanna Lumley and Jennifer Saunders. The chaotic scenes on the trading floor were a far cry from the white-tie Diplomatic Reception held by the Queen at Buckingham Palace last night that the couple attended.

It was a copy of one owned by her grandmother, Princess Augusta of Hesse, who married the first Duke of Cambridge, seventh son of King George III, in 1818. In 1981 she gave it as a wedding present to Prince William’s mother, Diana, who wore it for the first time at the state opening of parliament that November. Buckingham Palace was unable to confirm last night whether the tiara had reverted to the Queen on Diana’s death and had now been given to Kate, or whether it was just on loan for the night. The tiara has a strong French influence, made to a new-classical design on 19 open work diamond arches and enclosing an oriental pearl drop from a diamond lover’s knot bow, surrounded by single diamonds and upright oval pearl spikes.
