Why Chris Soules Thought The Bachelorette Premiere Was “Awkward”

‘The Bachelor’ casting in Chicago in July.

There’s a reason why may have been pulling for Chris Soules to choose Whitney Bischoff! The two-Bachelorette drama may be over (mostly — we’re expecting to see more of Britt and her new suitor Brady), but during Tuesday night’s season highlights, ABC amped the anti-woman sentiment way up.Meet the standout suitors (the weirdest and hottest!) from the premiere of The Bachelorette including an amateur sex coach and a Calvin Harris look-alike! The casting call is scheduled for July 11 at the Westin Michigan Avenue Chicago hotel, which is the same hotel where the show hosted a casting call last July. Preview clips are always cut to misdirect, but it’s clear that Kaitlyn has sex with one of the men and gets called out for her physical intimacy by some of her suitors.

The current season of “The Bachelorette” premiered Monday with three Chicagoland contestants competing on the show, including Batavia High School alum Clint Arlis, who received the first one-on-one date. I don’t think I’m a bad person and I’m not ashamed of myself, but I do have other relationships and one of those relationships went too far too fast.

The preview (see below, starting at around 2:30) shows Kaitlyn sobbing, berating herself for making a “mistake,” while bachelors accuse her of just going on TV to make out with a bunch of guys. He added earlier that month: “I like how Kaitlyn carries herself.” Viall, 34, followed Bristowe via Twitter in late January, and didn’t let up on his affection for her. “I’m pretty [sure] I would never be bored around Kaitlyn,” he wrote at one point. In case ABC needs a little reminder, here are some simple guidelines to help them portray Kaitlyn’s search for love in a way that doesn’t hearken back to the Victorian era: 9. Viall was smitten with the former Assistant District Attorney (he sent her a letter after the defeat!), but raised eyebrows when he talked about their fantasy suite sexcapades during After the Final Rose. Tony, who claimed that his specialty in healing is “flexibility therapy,” made a bizarre impact on Monday night’s premiere, beginning with his introduction to both Bachelorettes.

He first walked up to Britt and said in a very charming manner: “I believe in love — a real kind of love, and I hope the universe provides.” While it seemed his delivery was genuine, he then walked over to Kaitlyn and regurgitated the same exact line. The New Age “healer” — who showed up with a black eye — placed his hands over both boxes to sense which energy levels were drawing him in or “pulsating.” Ultimately, he went with Britt. But if you do, see if he has a brother? #TheBachelorette,” she joked. “If Ryan Gosling and Calvin Harris miraculously had a baby….#ShawnB #TheBachelorette.”

After being crowned the drunkest of them all during the meet and greet open bar, Ryan M. was eliminated on Monday’s episode and sent home by Chris Harrison. While Ian didn’t make a ridiculously memorable entrance on Monday, the 6’4” hunk made quite the first impression with viewers and with Kaitlyn during the premiere.
