‘It’s f****ed up': Mama June threatens to sue TLC for not axing Duggar show following child molestation scandal (as the network air 19 Kids And Counting marathon).

TV host Montel Williams took to Twitter to lash out at Josh Duggar on Thursday night, calling the reality star a “world class bigot” after Duggar apologized following a tabloid report that was published alleging he molested underage girls as a teenager more than a decade ago. “Josh Duggar, a world class bigot, admits sexually abusing young girls – has consistently stated that LGBT folks r danger to kids,” Williams Tweeted. “Gosh, yet another anti-gay alleged ‘Christian’ defender turns out to be a garden variety scumbag.” The talk show host and commentator continued in a number of subsequent tweets, taking aim at both the Duggar family — stars of TLC’s “19 Kids and Counting” — as well as the Family Research Council, a conservative organization.“19 and Counting” could be the name of a reality show on the 2016 GOP presidential field. (Poor Reince Priebus.) But it’s actually the name of that TLC show you never watch on the bewildering Duggar family, headed by Jim Bob and Michelle, who have 19 children (and counting?) because they claim that’s what God wants.Fans of TLC’s 19 Kids and Counting series were surprised Thursday when news broke that Josh Duggar admitted to having molested five girls when he was a teenager. Duggar’s admission could become a significant headache for Republican presidential contenders, many of whom have been outspoken supporters of the Christian conservative family in the past, and have received campaign support from the family.

As the details come out, it seems Jim Bob Duggar knew about his son’s abuse for at least a year, and tried to address the problem by taking him to talk to church elders, including a session with an Arkansas state trooper who later went to jail for child pornography. All 19 have names that begin with the letter “J”: Joshua, Jana and John-David (who are twins), Jill, Jessa, Jinger, Joseph, Josiah, Joy-Anna, Jedidiah and Jeremiah (also twins), Jason, James, Justin, Jackson, Johannah, Jennifer, Jordyn-Grace and Josie. There’s no evidence to suggest any of the candidates who campaigned with the Duggars over the years had any knowledge of the report published this week.

Put aside the tabloid spin on O’Reilly’s perch at Fox or Duggar’s work to deny rights to and spread hate against LGBTQ people, and these are stories about violence against women, ignored and unpunished. It is one of the reasons we treasure our faith so much because God’s kindness and goodness and forgiveness are extended to us — even though we are so undeserving. We hope somehow the story of our journey — the good times and the difficult times — cause you to see the kindness of God and learn that He can bring you through anything.’ ‘Twelve years ago, as a young teenager I acted inexcusably for which I am extremely sorry and deeply regret.

Within hours of the news breaking, critics of the Duggars had unearthed shots of him with a veritable panoply of declared and expected GOP presidential candidates, enough to fill a single-service Tumblr page. This comes on the heels of court transcripts revealing that bullying patriarch Bill O’Reilly, another purveyor of right-wing family values, used to return to his family and “go ballistic,” in his words, once dragging ex-wife down the stairs by the neck in front of his daughter. The family uses a “buddy system” in which an older child is assigned a younger child to look after, taking care of tasks like tying shoes, choosing outfits and helping out with homework. Instead of going immediately to the police or entering Josh into an intervention program for juvenile sexual predators, they chose to “deal” with it themselves.

In my life today, I am so very thankful for God’s grace, mercy and redemption.’ ‘I can imagine the shock many of you are going through reading this. Stellar mom Michelle Duggar made a robocall pushing the repeal of a local anti-discrimination ordinance, arguing that it would allow “child predators” to threaten “the safety and innocence of a child.” Maybe she had a guilty conscience. The Duggars also appeared in a photograph with former President Bill Clinton, who is also from Arkansas, when both the family and the former president were interviewed on NBC’s Today show in 2011. The Duggar parents also lied about seeking help for their teenage son, claiming to have sent him to a kind of rehabilitation center when, in reality, they shipped him off to a friend’s to do manual labor and pray about it.

And the Duggar family’s political activity doesn’t stop there — last cycle Josh Duggar alone campaigned for GOP Senate candidates in Kansas, Virginia and Mississippi. In 2008, they helped drive Mike Huckabee to a win in the Iowa caucuses, where Evangelical Christians are a strong voting force; in 2012 they did the same for Santorum. The entire Republican field is united on the inferiority of gay families, but hails parents like the Duggars, who let their son prey on his sisters for a year without going to authorities. But the Duggar family’s decision to cover for their son and chalk up the abuse to an opportunity to, in their words, “seek God like never before” is a familiar story. A formal police investigation wasn’t opened until 2006, when the Duggars were due to make an appearance on Oprah Winfrey’s show and a tipster sent along a letter detailing some of the allegations, which the show forwarded to police.

I was able to say, “Yes” knowing who Josh really is – someone who had gone down a wrong path and had humbled himself before God and those whom he had offended. He is also a man with a history (if the abuse, in fact, ended when it was “addressed” by the Duggar family) of sexual violence who never faced a single legal consequence or entered into a legitimate rehabilitation program. But when the system is rigged to protect violent men and punish women for coming forward, zero accountability isn’t just reserved for the rich and famous.
