What We Learned From the Japanese Captions on the New Star Wars Trailer

Japanese Star Wars trailer surprises fans with new footage from The Force Awakens.

The most interesting reveal of the new trailer, which has Japanese subtitles, is a masked villain holding a lightsaber to the face of the protagonist Rey.

The trailer closes with a chilling voice over of Rey saying, “Hope is not lost today, it is found.” (RELATED: Watch The New Star Wars Trailer Here [VIDEO]) Fire and explosions ensue as Stormtroopers attack, but Rey escapes – and she introduces herself formally to Finn (John Boyega) with this sparkling bit of dialogue: “I don’t know your name.” / “Finn.” / “I’m Rey.” That’s that sorted, then. All of it.” There’s also plenty of lightsabers being waved around all over the place – and by the looks of it, Rey is in trouble, as Kylo Ren threatens her with his saber.
