Ali Landry’s brother-in-law, father-in-law found dead in Mexico after being held hostage.

Actress and former Miss USA Ali Landry’s father-in-law and brother-in-law were found dead in Veracruz, Mexico, 16 days after they were kidnapped from their home in nearby Tamaulipas. According to a statement by Veracruz state prosecutor Luis Angel Bravo Contreras to People, the two sustained traumatic brain injuries and had been dead for several days when they were found. Jose Manuel Gomez Fernandez and Juan Manuel Gomez Monteverde are the father and brother of Landry’s husband, acclaimed director Alejandro Monteverde, reported People Magazine. Monteverde, 38, is recognized for his films “Bella” and “Little Boy,” the former having taken first place at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2006. The director is also a good friend of Oscar winner Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, whose film “Birdman” took the Academy Awards for Best Director and Best Picture in 2015.

She was also briefly married in 2004 to Mario Lopez, but she requested an annulment just two weeks after the wedding. “With a heart full of pain and sadness, I ask for prayers for my friend and ‘compadre’ Alejandro Gomez Monteverde and all his family,” he wrote in Spanish. “My deepest condolences to my soul brother, I love you so much ‘compadre,’ I put my heart in your hands and I join you in this deep pain.”
