Nicole Arbour Not Apologizing for Fat-Shaming Video: It’s An ‘Intense Form of Truth Telling’.

Titled “Dear Fat People,” the six-minute clip shows the comedian insisting fat shaming doesn’t exist, and includes controversial remarks that ultimately led to Arbour’s Youtube page being temporarily shut down by Google. “Fat-shaming is not a thing.“Nicole Arbour, whose video Dear Fat People made headlines when it was published last week, told TIME she did not regret her comments, which included comparing the #bodypositivity hashtag to “#methlove” or “#teamsmokers”. Arbour, on the other hand, might have thought that the posted video would mean as a comedy; however, social media did not quite see it that way as people responded harshly to it.

As a result, Youtube has temporarily disabled Arbour’s account, and she has been fired from “Body-Positive Dance” movie, according to Celebrity News Insider. “I feel it’s really important that we make fun of everybody”, she told TIME. I think [what] brings us together and unites us as people is that we can poke fun at all of us.” “I find seeing someone’s head being blown off offensive.

Arbour has stood by her video, but did apologize to any children who might have been offended by her video, saying that her comedy was intended for adult audiences only. “If I hadn’t been told I was garbage, I wouldn’t have learned how to show people I’m talented”. Starcasm reports Arbour lost 18,000 YouTube followers over the weekend, from 196,000 to 178,000, but according to her feed as of Monday morning she had 192,430 followers. Teigen continued, noting that it’s troubling because even all the negative reactions to the video are still giving Arbour what she wants: publicity. “So that’s the worst part about it”, Teigen added.
