Weird Al Yankovic’s Mandatory Fun tour is heading to Dallas in August.

Calgary hard rock fans will be in heaven (hell? The Mandatory Fun tour, named for his most recent album, starts in May with five shows in Las Vegas and will hit Grand Prairie’s Verizon Theatre on Aug. 21. In (slightly) less soul jeopardizing concert news, yuk master musician “Weird Al” Yankovic will also be returning to town as part of his Mandatory World Tour to support his latest of novelty hits Mandatory Fun. Tickets for that show are $47.50 and $65 (plus service charges) and available Saturday from www.ticketmaster.ca, by phone at 1-855-985-5000, or in person at all Ticketmaster outlets.

And finally, on the sad side of the ledger — for some, anyway — the Feb. 12 Saddledome show by American act Linkin Park is one of several tour stops cancelled by the band due to an injury. “Linkin Park regret to inform their fans they must cancel the remaining dates of The Hunting Party tour through Feb. 14th, due to a leg injury of lead vocalist Chester Bennington. The injury requires immediate medical attention making it physically impossible for Bennington to perform. “Chester says, ‘I’m really disappointed this injury has made it impossible to continue with this tour.
