Mariska Hargitay Teases That Taylor Swift May Guest Star on Law & Order: SVU.

In New York City’s war on Katy Perry, the dedicated Swifties who trot around stages and pose for Instagrams are members of an elite squad known as the Special Friendships Unit.

But alas, while speaking with Entertainment Tonight, “Law and Order: SVU” star Mariska Hargitay teased that the pop star may make a guest appearance on the show. “We just talked about it,” Hargitay said, when asked about the possibility. “We’re going to wait until the end of the [1989 World] tour to see how it goes.At a press roundtable on Wednesday for the upcoming 17th season of Law & Order: SVU, Mariska Hargitay took some time to talk about her newest accolade: a spot in Taylor Swift’s ever-growing group of famous female friends.

The character at the center of TV’s longest-running drama currently on the air has gone from young detective to new mom and sergeant to…well, that might be spoiling a bit too much. Swift even recruited Hargitay to join her squad with the invite to appear in her “Bad Blood” music video as “Justice.” It wouldn’t be the first time Swift starred on a crime drama. But it’s in the air.” Swift, 25, is such a big fan of the show that she even named one of her cats after the actress’ fan-favorite tough-as-nails character. Even if the new alliance doesn’t end up leading to a Swift “SVU” appearance, we at least already have some prime human Olivia hanging with cat Olivia footage for the ages.

Not only that, Hargitay, 51, has been inducted into the “Wildest Dreams” singer’s squad, and joined the songstress on stage during a concert in June. There’s Badass Benson now and Mama Bear Benson, and Hargitay is just fine with playing both ends of the spectrum that often meet and mix in the middle. “All these changes have infused the character in such great ways. Hargitay also appeared in the singer’s “Bad Blood” music video, along with Swift’s numerous other celebrity pals, so it’s only fair for the singer to return the favor on SVU!

She got ready with the whole group prior to going on stage with Swift to accept the Video of the Year award for “Bad Blood.” “ ‘Shake it Off’ really touched me deeply, profoundly,” she says, noting that sometimes she asks herself why she allows certain things to hurt her feelings. “Then you go, ‘You know what? The pull of work and home life isn’t something new to Hargitay, a mom of three, but it is for her character. “We understand, the pull is always a legitimate pull. They don’t write—I’m not at the office for no good reason,” Hargitay said, citing the stresses of Benson’s job where she’s understaffed, is missing a second in command and has members of her squad she doesn’t completely trust. “I’m a little bit alone right now.

Meanwhile, Hargitay joked about adopting a kitty for a little catception. “The squad room needs to get a cat or I need to get a cat and name it Taylor,” Hargitay quipped, “either one.” If TayTay does guest star, she would make a great type-A witness who is just a little too enthusiastic about helping the cops lock up a killer. In a shocking twist, we find out that Swift framed her ex-boyfriend for murder just so he’d go to prison and she would have full custody of the cat they once shared. I’ve got a kid, and I’m all he’s got.” Executive producers Warren Leight and Julie Martin said they like to play with the realities of the situation too. “I think there’s some expectation that, especially for female characters, to be the superwoman and you have to be able to handle everything and everybody…and not be perceived as a bitch,” Martin said. “We’re trying to keep her real and grounded and experiencing frustration and getting angry—” “I love those notes between Rollins and I in the first [episode],” Hargitay said. “All this little weird friction—she’s being punished and she feels like a victim and I’m trying to protect her.
