First ‘Steve Jobs’ Trailer: See Michael Fassbender as Apple Co-Founder.

The Kerry native, who runs his own production company, DMC Film – as a sideline to his acting career, said he wants to take a step behind the camera and into the director’s chair. The film written by Aaron Sorkin, who incidentally also wrote ‘The Social Network’ a film based on another tech icon Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, and directed by Danny Boyle (best known for films like ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ and ‘Trainspotting’) will release on 9 October. The Shame actor said that while he has come across plenty of projects he would like to direct himself, his main priority in DMC Film is to get them on screen. The video doesn’t reveal much except at the end, when we see an older Steve Jobs standing in front of an audience, presumably getting ready for a keynote address.

The minute-plus clip shows us Jobs mostly from behind as he prepares to take the stage for one of his famous product-launch speeches while lines of dialogue from the film swirl around. The half-German star, who is to play the title role in the upcoming biopic on Apple boss Steve Jobs, also revealed that Hollywood life isn’t for him. In addition to Fassbender, the film stars Seth Rogen as Steve Wozniak (the Apple co-founder with whom Jobs established the company), Jeff Daniels as John Sculley (who replaced Steve Jobs as Apple CEO from 1983-1993 and had a strained relationship with the late Apple co-founder). When we finally see Fassbender from the front, he is wearing Jobs’s signature glasses and black turtleneck, and he is being hailed by a rabid audience while flash photography saturates him. The film also features Kate Winslet as Joanna Hoffman, who was the original member of the Macintosh team and the NeXT team, a company that Jobs founded when he was chucked out of Apple.

In messages leaked in Sony’s hacking scandal last year, Sorkin said: “I don’t know who Michael Fassbender is and the rest of the world isn’t going to care.” “It’s whatever. I play the orchestra…I sat in a garage and invented the future…Artists lead and hacks ask for a show of hands.” Image-wise, the clip opens with a shot of the back of Jobs standing onstage looking out at an empty concert hall. Sorkin’s script, based on Walter Isaacson’s biography, is said to focus on three presentations Jobs gave that defined his life and his role at Apple.
