Janet Jackson Drops Sexy “No Sleeep” Music Video Featuring J. Cole: Watch!.

Janet Jackson has unveiled the new music video for her newly remixed comeback single “No Sleeep.” In keeping with the theme of the title, the video finds the singer and houseguest J. It’s been a remarkable five years since Janet’s last album and four since she was on the road, but the little sister of Michael Jackson is about to take down 2015.In the video, the pop/R&B superstar — who just received the Ultimate Icon Award at the BET Awards — slowly dances around her house and lets her hair curls loose while singing the sultry tune. “You’re missing me, I’m missing you / Whenever we meet, we ain’t gonna get no sleep,” she croons. “When I get to be together with you / It’s fait accompli, we ain’t gonna get no sleep.” Jackson also adds a personal touch to her vulnerable lyrics. The pop star debuted the video for “No Sleeep” Friday on the “Today” show, with Jackson tweeting her fans, “I hope u enjoy watching this as much as we enjoyed making it.” The clip features Jackson having a chill time as she hangs out at a swanky mansion. Made with the same producers and writers Jam and Lewis, Janet’s new song and the clip accompanying it are a more grown up, down-tempo, sensual version of the song which reigned at the top of the US charts for 100 weeks.

She’s already announced a world tour and a new studio album—her eleventh—and Friday morning she debuted the first video for a song off that album. In the video, she shares a throwback photo of herself as a child with her dad, Joe Jackson, and appears to give a shout-out to her late brother, Michael Jackson, by wearing a black fedora hat. And she has also managed to get a homage to her brother into the video, where she is seen doing some dance moves on the stairs and tipping her fedora hat.

Several days ago, Jackson supported Cole at his Staples Center show in L.A. on Sunday, July 19. “Girls night out @JColeNC concert! #ColeWorld,” the “All for You” singer tweeted at the time. Wearing an all black ensemble, Janet doesn’t perform many of the dance moves she became known for in the 1990’s, but she does manage a hip sway and a shoulder shrug throughout the clip.

Cole—a smart choice for a comeback single—Jackson conjures the laid-back, sexy vibes of early ’90s singles like “That’s the Way Love Goes.” Some of the video’s aesthetic choices, most notably projected slides of Jackson as a baby with her father, are somewhat incongruous with the song’s mature themes. In addition to her new album, Jackson also announced plans to embark on an extensive Unbreakable world tour, which kicks off with a 36-date first leg that begins August 31st in Vancouver, British Columbia and runs through November. And some of Cole’s lines—“You miss junk food/ that’s why we work/ You bring cooked food/ and I bring dessert”—seem to diverge oddly from the topic at hand.

Jackson will then return stateside for the tour’s second North American leg beginning on January 12, 2016 in Portland, Oregon. 2015 may not bring everything that Back to the Future II promised it would: flying cars, self-lacing shoes, we don’t see ’em happening over the next 12 months. (Then again, don’t bet against Nike.) But this year will definitely pack plenty of punch when it comes to cultural happenings. The song continues as Janet moves through the apartment, which is softly lit, until she gets to the lounge area which features candles and warmer, more orange hues. Mad Max will roar back out of the apocalypse while Mad Men rides off into the sunset, rock’s Antichrist Superstar and hip-hop’s Yeezus will rise again. Although they don’t tend to interact with each other in the clip, may be because they had to film at different times, the pairs vocals blend together with a perfect sound.

Janet is releasing her material on her own label – the partnership between Rhythm Nation and BMG makes her arguably the first African/ American woman to do so.
