Coldplay to star in Game of Thrones: The Musical spoofIt will feature series regular Peter Dinklage, who can be seen in a preview clip singing: “Baby, you know I’m the man for all seasons, characters get cut for various reasons.Funny or Die have teamed up with Coldplay to create a musical based on Game of Thrones for Red Nose Day in the US with the star belting out one of the tunes. Admittedly he’s not the best singer but he has the rock star swagger to carry it off as he sings an ode to all the characters who have died so far in Westeros. But not me, I’m still going strong.” Pitch Perfect star Anna also has her own sketch, dubbed Indianna Jones, which sees her putting a new spin on a famous scene from Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade.

The video was released as a sneak peek of the musical which will be broadcast as part of the American version of the charity event on NBC on Thursday from 8pm ET to 11pm ET. Dinklage plays witty dwarf Tyrion Lannister in the hit HBO fantasy drama, and the musical sees him boasting about his staying power, having survived from season one all the way to the show’s current fifth run. Stars who will be supporting the three-hour broadcast include – deep breath – Will Ferrell, Gwyneth Paltrow, Emily Blunt, John Krasinski, Jack Black, Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Pharrell Williams, Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Aniston, Rose Byrne, Nick Cannon, Simon Cowell, Benedict Cumberbatch, Zac Efron and Jimmy Fallon. Also on board are Jennifer Garner, Richard Gere, Neil Patrick Harris, Matt LeBlanc, Dame Helen Mirren, Julianne Moore, Elisabeth Moss, Liam Neeson, One Direction, Robert Pattinson, Eddie Redmayne, Julia Roberts, Paul Rudd, Nicole Scherzinger, Keith Urban and Reese Witherspoon. Coldplay are known to be huge fans of the show and have registered songs based on characters, while their drummer Bill Chapman has even appeared on the show.

A teaser was released by Coldplay on social media showing Dinklage looking dapper in a black blazer singing along with a crew of background vocalists and musicians. Coldplay recently launched an online timeline documenting the history of the group, including unseen video of the band’s rehearsal for Live 8 with Richard Ashcroft in 2005. Entitled ‘The Coldplay Timeline’, the new feature on their official website Coldplay.com charts their first rehearsal in 1998 right up to the present day.
