5 things you may not know about Adele, the savior of CDs.

Adele is still surfing the wave of her own success with 21, by far the biggest album of the 21st century in Britain, with sales of 4.7 million in just under five years.

But before the globe braced itself for the British crooner to smash every music record in the game — she was Adele Laurie Blue Adkins, aspirational singer. On BBC One’s one-hour “Adele at the BBC” special, the British singing superstar, along with comedian and TV talk-show host Graham Norton, had a little fun with a group of Adele impersonators. Now back in the charts, 21 may soon surpass Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, the most popular album from the most popular group of all, which has sold 5.1 million copies in Britain in nearly 50 years. Donning a fake chin, nose and gloves (to cover her tattoos), Adele, under the fake name Jenny, ventured off to an audition with a few of her impersonators.

Presenting herself as ‘Jenny’ – an Adele impersonator whose day job is being a nanny; Adele mingled with her oblivious impersonators and even tried to mock herself from time to time! Completely oblivious to the fact that they were actually in the presence of the superstar herself, the impersonators did not hesitate to gush about Adele.

While the group chatted away, one impersonator commented that she can’t wait for Adele’s new album ’25’ to come out, to which nanny ‘Jenny’ snidely remarks: Jenny a.k.a. real Adele then asked one of the impersonators on how long she’s been in the business. Yet more, including Damon Albarn and Phil Collins, were tried and ditched: if Adele needs new material for her break-up songs, these two are doing their best to provide it. The singer’s hotly anticipated new album, “25,” is out Friday, Nov. 20, 2015. However, when she sang her hit rendition ‘Make You Feel My Love’ all the ladies were taken aback and were all debating whether it was Adele or not. Although a few refused to believe it at first, due certainly to Adele’s acting prowess — seriously, is there anything this woman can’t do? — they eventually came around when Norton took the stage to officially introduce them all. It tries to rhyme ‘everything’ with ‘healing’ and ‘side’ with ‘times’, and Adele keeps calling her ex on his home line while also wondering where he is living. Send My Love (To Your New Lover), co-written with Max Martin, is a repetitive pop ditty which confirms that if there’s one person who doesn’t need a Swedish hit machine, it’s Adele.

Her latest single, “Hello,” was the most viewed video on Vevo in 24 hours, the most streamed song on Spotify in a day and the most downloaded song in a week ever.
