Arrest Made in Lil Wayne Tour Bus Shooting.

ATLANTA An Atlanta man faces charges including aggravated assault and gang activity for shooting at Grammy-winning rap music star Lil Wayne’s tour buses, police said on Friday. Jimmy Carlton Winfrey was apprehended by Atlanta police and was charged with aggravated assault, terrorist threats, possession of a firearm by a felon, and criminal gang activity. Police say the guy who shot up Weezy’s tour bus in April did it to gain street credibility among the Bloods gang in Atlanta, but another report revealed that he’s closely affiliated with Thugger, allegedly.

TMZ said Winfrey has been Young Thug’s road manager — which is incredibly relevant since Thug’s been in a very public beef with Wayne for months. Thug released a mixtape called “Tha Carter 6″ — mocking Wayne’s long delayed album — but changed it to “Barter 6″ when he was threatened with a lawsuit. Thug exacerbated the toxic rivalry when he released a mocking mixtape album called Tha Carter 6, which was to make fun of Wayn’s long-delayed album. TMZ says Winfrey is actually Thugger’s tour manager (the site has a photo of Thug and Winfrey with blunts and cough syrup in hand, so they must be pretty close).

Earlier this week, Young Thug was interviewed by No Days Off Radio and revealed that he wanted to name his next mixtape Tha Carter V, if Wayne’s album of the same name wasn’t released. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, citing the warrant, reported that the Winfrey’s motive was “to gain status in his criminal organisation by committing a high profile shooting of a rival rap artist” and that he has “associated himself with known blood gang members in the Atlanta area.” Wayne won Grammy awards in 2008 for best rap album, best rap song, and best rap solo performance and was part of the award-winning best rap group performance. Hopefully the police got the right guy but we’re still thanking the stars that Lil Wayne and the rest of his crew aboard the bus that day are safe and sound.
