Vin Diesel says final Fast & Furious trilogy will happen

Did Vin Diesel just reveal when the Fast & Furious franchise would end?.

The actor, who also serves as producer on the franchise, uploaded the message to clear up rumours that they were having trouble finding a director for Fast & Furious 8. ‘Universal has been so good to me and so trusting of the vision… they have been like family… I promised the studio I would deliver one last Trilogy to end the saga.’ According to The Hollywood Reporter, franchise veteran Justin Lin and “Furious 7” helmer James Wan have both passed on directing the sequel, which has been slotted for release on April 14. While a search for a new director remains ongoing, producer Neal H Moritz was quick to deny suggestions that Vin Diesel’s demanding nature caused trouble with Wan on the “Furious 7” set.

It was a damning report about the status of one of the most beloved and successful movie franchises, but Diesel himself has taken to his Facebook page to refute some of those claims and update on the status of the next Fast and Furious films. Universal added, “The studio and filmmakers loved working with James on ‘Furious 7’, but he was never in the mix for an eighth film due to a scheduling conflict with ‘The Conjuring ‘2. According to THR, Diesel “must be consulted on director choices.” “My producing partner Neal [Moritz] would love for me to just sign off on a director, but this is too special a franchise, so these matters have to be very carefully handled,” Diesel wrote. “To be clear, NO ONE has been offered to helm Fast 8 yet… let alone seen a script.” According to Diesel, he will announce the “directors” for the final trilogy of films with his next Facebook post. Directors fall on and off projects all the time, I can’t imagine trying to find a director who is going to commit to a movie coming out in 2021 that isn’t Star Wars.
