‘Scream Queens’ Is ‘Halloween’ Meets ‘Heathers,’ Ryan Murphy Says at Comic-Con.

At a panel for the new series, stars Jamie Lee Curtis, Emma Roberts, Lea Michele, Skyler Samuels, Abigail Breslin, Keke Palmer and Billie Lourde were joined by co-creator Ryan Murphy, who teased the new series as “Halloween meets Heathers.” The mention of the former elicited big screams from the crowd for Halloween star Curtis, who was attending Comic-Con for the first time.In the 10-second teaser released by FX Networks on Monday, Gaga’s silver, long-nailed hand is shown ringing the bell at the check-in desk, giving the first clues into her character.

Ryan Murphy, creator of the gory anthology series American Horror Story, recently attended a panel at San Diego’s Comic-Con, along with cast members Emma Roberts, Kathy Bates, Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson and Angela Bassett. To the joy of the crowd, Curtis said she will pay tribute to her breakthrough role on Scream Queens. “In episode two, there is a wordless homage that I threw in that was me tipping my hat to all you Laurie Strode lovers,” she said. Just yesterday at Comic-Con in San Diego, “American Horror Story” creator Ryan Murphy revealed details about the new season and the superstar’s role, confirming that she will play one of the bad guys. “She said, ‘I want to be evil,’” Murphy recalled of his first meeting with Gaga. “I said, ‘You came to the right place.’” As seen in the video released today, Murphy also teased Gaga’s over-the-top “Hotel” appearance during Sunday’s panel, saying, “When you work with someone like her, you sign up for something that is larger than life, and I think that’s what you want.

While on stage in a joint panel for Murphy’s upcoming Fox series Scream Queens, Murphy revealed characters from previous seasons will check into the Hotel. “Characters from previous seasons will come back and check into the hotel.” Murphy said regarding the interconnection between seasons and noted everything will make sense by the end of the series. Here’s a round-up of everything we learnt from the panel, and everything we know so far about the show’s forthcoming fifth season, Hotel, which is due to air in October 2015. Meanwhile, we finally got some scoop on Lady Gaga’s character—she will be involved with fashion and she’s working with the costume designers for her character. Many were enthusiastic when it was announced in February that Lady Gaga would be appearing in American Horror Story: Hotel, but nobody was as excited as the pop star herself. Instead, he revealed that on the first episodes of the show, the actors were instructed to do one take where their character is the killer. “So every actor had to get into that mind-set,” he said.

The designers have been coming out of the woodwork with looks for her.” Murphy also shared that Gaga reached out herself, expressing her interest to be part of “AHS” because she’s such a big fan. “The best call ever is ‘Please wait for Gaga,’” he joked. Some of the cast names were confirmed at Comic-Con 2015: Matt Bomer will play Donovan, Kathy Bates will play Iris, Angela Bassett is Ramona, Evan Peters will take the role of Mr March, and Sarah Paulson will star as the fantastically-named Hypodermic Sally. Murphy said his panelists this year are all “bad boys and girls” in this season of AHS and it looks like we already know one big death is on the horizon: Sarah Paulson’s Hypodermic Sally. While her departure had the potential to leave a gaping hole in the line-up, Murphy has said that the show now works as more of an “ensemble piece”, without a true lead character. “I think that the thing that’s different about the season is that before we’ve always been very driven by the Jessica Lange character. The Wes Bentley part is really big, the Matt Bomer part is really big; Evan Peters and Finn Wittrock are really big.” He added: “That’s not to say that the women aren’t [big] either.

When it came time for audience question and answer time, Bates revealed a crush on a certain Magic costar of Bomer’s. “Hey Matt, who’s that Armenian guy who did the dances?” Bates asked. Lucky Comic-Con guests got to experience a dummy replica of the show’s six-storey hotel set, the “real” version of which has just been constructed in Los Angeles, in time for filming later this month. Photos from the event revealed that the hotel is an art deco, Twenties style building, complete with gleaming marble pillars, chandeliers and smartly-uniformed, red hat-wearing staff.
