‘I was just a kid!’ Macaulay Culkin revisits Home Alone’s traumatised Kevin 25 years on in hilarious new web series.

Episode One, entitled Just Me In The House By Myself, shows Culkin’s character working as a driver for on-demand car service DRYVRS, apparently a fictional version of Uber. ‘How about this, it’s Christmas time. After handing over the wheel to his customer, the stringy-haired bundle of nerves shares a story from his youth, when he spent Christmas week abandoned by his family. “They remembered my bastard of a brother,” he says, in the video, heavy on profanity and disturbing imagery, “but they forget me, the cutest f—ing 8-year-old in the universe. It’s f***ing Christmas and your whole family goes on vacation and they forget their 8-year-old f***ing son,’ he hisses. ‘All by yourself, for a week. By far!” No wonder he doesn’t want to take calls from his mom. “She didn’t care, man,” Culkin says, jittery and waving an unlit cigarette. “My mom was too busy being … a groupie for a polka band?

In the same way that each episode of the web series High Maintenance chronicles the customers our protagonist pot dealer encounters, :DRYVRS stars Dishel as the user of an unnamed car service who has odd interactions with the people who pick him up. I never even got the whole story.” The memory of keeping Marv and Harry out of his Winnetka home still stings. “I still have nightmares about this bald weirdo dude chasing me around talking like he’s Yosemite Sam: ‘I’m gonna pull your fingernails out!’ “ But he hasn’t forgotten how to take down criminals.

When a carjacker attempts to swipe their ride, Culkin uses his MacGyver-like savvy to abduct the guy and ends up torturing him and celebrating with a shirtless, bloody dance. The video is the creation of comedian and musician Jack Dishel, formerly the lead guitarist for Moldy Peaches and recently the opening act for his wife, Regina Spektor. It’s something of a surprising move for Culkin, 35, who has done little acting over the last decade and tends to avoid discussion of his starmaking role.
