Did Tyler James Williams Just Reveal That Jaden Smith Will Star in Static Shock?.

Sixteen-year-old Jaden Smith has been cast to play the electricity-wielding teen hero Static Shock in an upcoming Web series — at least according to actor Tyler James Williams.Even though we already know Peter Parker has been chosen as the next big-screen version of Spider-Man, there are still a lot of fans rooting for the eventual live-action debut of Miles Morales. When asked if he would be interested in playing a young black super hero by an interviewer at this weekend’s MCM Comic Con in London, the “Walking Dead” alum apparently revealed the younger Smith’s previously unknown casting. “There aren’t that many young black comic book super heroes,” Williams answered. “It’s great to see ‘Static Shock’ is happening with Jaden.” Warner Bros. has high hopes for the digital series based on the popular character created by Dwayne McDuffie, Robert L.

Even Marvel head honcho Kevin Feige has suggested that just because Peter will show up first in the Marvel universe doesn’t mean Miles is necessarily out of the running. During a recent interview with Flicks and the City at MCM London Comic-Con, Williams said that if Marvel does a live-action Miles Morales film, he’d totally be down for the role — as would the hordes of fans who have started grassroots campaigns for him online. “I kind of follow the Miles Morales character quite a bit. The elder Smith is currently filming his role as the assassin Deadshot in “Suicide Squad,” the upcoming David Ayers-directed flick about a team of super villains conscripted to undertake dangerous missions for the government. I would absolutely love to do it.” Hmm… Williams’ confession that he’s read for Marvel before is definitely an intriguing one, and his whole answer sounds like quite the wink-wink, nudge-nudge maneuver (watch him in the interview below and you’ll see what we mean). The Jaden/Static rumor has been kicking around since last fall, and it sounds like Williams’ has made an unofficial confirmation about Jaden’s ties to the character — a young African-American boy whose exposure to an experimental agent gives him the power to control electricity.

And now we’re suddenly getting flashbacks to Jaden’s ultra-weird 2014 interview with the New York Times in which he said the word “shock” over and over and over again (“The only way to change something is to shock it.
