The X-Files Is Back: Watch the First Footage of David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson’s Return.

The cult-favorite characters are back to take on the supernatural in a six-episode reboot of The X-Files set to premiere in 2016, and Fox released a new teaser Thursday on Twitter. After nine seasons and two feature films, the truth that Mulder and Scully searched for is still, still out there— and with a 90s nostalgia boom currently running rampant through Hollywood, they’re now back to keep searching. It’s only 15 seconds long, but there is an “I Want to Believe” poster, and there are close-ups of a reunited Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson).

The first glimpse of what we’ll see next year doesn’t disappoint, complete with strange tools, dead bodies and, of course, the show’s classic eerie theme song. This 15-second teaser reveals literally nothing, but given that an Instagram shot of Gillian Anderson back in Dana’s red hair got the Internet aflurry, it’s enough to get plenty of hearts pounding anyway. isn’t back for long; it’s returning to Fox in January as a six-episode limited series, not unlike the 24 revival that happened last year. Fox aired the first teaser for the six-episode revival of “The X-Files“ during Thursday night’s “Wayward Pines,” and while there’s not a huge amount to go on for any fair-weather viewer, hardcore fans will be dissecting the brief clip for days to come.
