Keith Richards confirms a new Rolling Stones record is in the works.

It’s been a long wait for fans since 2005’s A Bigger Bang, but The Rolling Stones are finally back at it, with “definite plans” to record a new album in 2016, Keith Richards confirmed during an interview with iHeartRadio ICONS in support of his new solo album, Crosseyed Heart. In a live radio interview on Tuesday night to promote the upcoming release of his own solo album, “Crosseyed Heart”, the 71-year-old rock icon said he and his bandmates – Mick Jagger, Charlie Watts and Ronnie Wood – were ready to return to the studio. “I was in London last week, and the boys and I got together, and yeah, there are now definitely plans to record,” Richards said during the iHeartRadio broadcast.

The resulting album would mark the longest interval – at least 11 years – between new studio sets by the Stones, whose last album of freshly recorded material was the 2005 release “A Bigger Bang”. Richards, who was touring North America with the band until mid-July, is due to release “Crosseyed Heart”, his first solo album in more than 20 years, today. Okay, boys, that’s agreed.’ Where, when – [we] scratch our heads.” “You never know,” he said. “We might try to get into the studio before Christmas. Asked in a separate interview posted Wednesday by the rock music and pop culture website The Quietus whether the Stones ever came close to calling it quits as a group, Richards said, “Never …

But at the same time, it’s definitely in the works.” Earlier this year, Mick Jagger hinted that the Stones had new material for a potential album. “It would be very nice and I’ve got a lot of new songs and songs I’ve written over the last couple of years,” he said. “I’ve done really good demos for all of them, which I would love to record. He made headlines recently by saying he’d happily allow his daughters to snort his ashes – a reference to a quote he made in 2007 claiming he had snorted his father’s ashes.
