‘Divergent-Allegiant’ Title UPDATE: Theo James And Shailene Woodley Starrer Final Two Movies’ New Names Revealed.

The movies formerly known as The Divergent Series: Allegiant — Part 1 and The Divergent Series: Allegiant — Part 2 will now be named The Divergent Series: Allegiant and The Divergent Series: Ascendant. (Photo : Twitter/Divergent) Fans of “Divergent-Allegiant” were in for another treat as recent announcements were made regarding Theo James and Shailene Woodley’s final two movies’ new title names.

Both movies are based on Veronica Roth’s “Allegiant,” the third novel in her “Divergent” trilogy, which begins with the Faction system being dismantled. We’ve already had Divergent and Insurgent and heard that the final book, Allegiant, is set to be split into two movies – a pretty common theme in recent YA flicks. Both films are also getting new taglines: Allegiant’s new tagline is “break the boundaries of your world,” while Ascendant promises that “the end is never what you expect. Well, basically, it means there are going to be some changes, but it’s really too early to know exactly what those changes will be or the extent of them. If you haven’t read the book, the place they’re in was actually an experiment by the government post-war on how civilization might be corrected if its citizens were categorized and limited.

Or sometimes love to hate?) will still be intact, which is really the important thing,” Roth wrote, adding, “I am eager to see how these movies turn out, along with you guys.” Robert Schwentke is directing both films, which star Shailene Woodley as Beatrice “Tris” Prior; Theo James as Tobias “Four” Eaton; Ansel Elgort as Caleb Prior; Miles Teller as Peter Hayes; Zoë Kravitz as Christina; Naomi Watts as Evelyn Johnson-Eaton; Jeff Daniels as David; Maggie Q as Tori Wu; Octavia Spencer as Johanna Reyes; Ray Stevenson as Marcus Eaton; and Bill Skarsgård as Matthew. That’s a welcome change (who wants their titles to be Part x?) and also a new word for the series, suggesting an interesting tone for the final story featuring Tris, Four and the others.

The distinct multiple personalities that Tris possessed was the key for discovering the truth. “The Divergent Series: Allegiant” will lock on their journey to find out what is behind the fence. This line could suggest that the story is sticking to that original ending or making some changes – either way be unexpected for fans or more casual viewers. The two films released to date have been pretty good fun, with decent action, nice world building and committed performances from the likes of lead Shailene Woodley. Though Roth points out that it’s still too soon to say what form those changes might take — Ascendant doesn’t hit theaters until March 24, 2017 — if you’ve read her series, it’s tough to keep from wondering whether the films might decide to throw out Allegiant’s original, bleak ending for something a little more, well, Ascendant. One fan tweeted, “My actual reaction to the movie title change was pure fangirl screams, I’m not gonna lie #Allegiant #Ascendant @Divergent SO EXCITED OMG.”

Readers were so incensed that Roth felt compelled to write a lengthy defense of her ending shortly after the book’s release: “I thought about reaching out with my authorial hand and snatching her from that awful situation.
