‘Big Bang Theory’ Recruits Stephen Merchant.

The episode kicks off with Sheldon and Leonard learning that a Swedish team of scientists is attempting to scoop their superfluid vortex experiment, which is based off the paper they worked on together last year. The new casting tidbit from “The Big Bang Theory” has hinted at the possibility of new romance angles for Sheldon (Jim Parsons) and Amy (Mayim Bialik). As viewers may recall, Tipton previously appeared as herself when Howard (Simon Helberg) and Raj (Kunal Nayyar) tried to sneak into the America’s Next Top Model house in season 2.

Barry Kripke gives them a “hell no,” and the two are forced to reach out one of Howard’s connections who can sell them some helium on the black market. It has been confirmed that Analeigh Tipton (“Manhattan Love Story”) and Stephen Merchant (“Hello Ladies”) will guest star in the currently airing ninth season of the hit comedy series, reported Ace Showbiz.

While CBS won’t disclose the roles they will play, audience members who attended the taping of the said episode reported that Tipton and Merchant would play dates for Sheldon and Amy respectively. Big Bang Theory showrunner Steve Molaro told THR at the start of season nine that producers planned to keep Amy and Sheldon apart “until the time feels right.” “Right now, the dynamic has been fascinating and interesting,” he said. “We’re seeing all new colors for both of them as well as the way it impacts the group. Sheldon schools the helium guy on the proper use of the word “stalemate.” This morphs into a dazzling conversation dissecting the difference between “reaching an impasse” and a Mexican standoff. Sheldon attempts to take charge of negotiations, introducing himself with a fake name and background, demanding that they receive the helium before handing over the cash.

Sheldon uses vivid examples of their current situation to make his point, by providing the helium guy’s real name that Sheldon decoded from his email. When Sheldon notices a halfway torn off sticker that says “Property of U” he declares that they must be using helium stolen from the U.S. government, making them accessories to a crime.
