‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Character Posters Revealed.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens may have already dropped their final trailer before the film’s much-anticipated December arrival, but now there’s plenty of new footage to scour over and analyze thanks to the arrival of another trailer that sprang up on Walt Disney Japan’s YouTube page Friday. While the structure of the international trailer is the same as that final preview, the latest look at the newest entry into the Star Wars saga offers a few more never-before-seen shots and sequences.

The 1m 52 sec trailer is based on the most recent one released, attaining record breaking viewings all around the world, but contains amazing new scenes previously unseen. In one scene, Daisy Ridley’s Rae and John Boyega’s Finn, the two characters who will likely carry the weight of the sequels’ narrative going forward, introduce themselves to each other. Whilst again focusing on Rey, played by British actress Daisy Ridley, we see new shots of her on the desert planet Jakku with the crashed Imperial Star Destroyer and also a conversation between the mysterious character and lovable new droid, BB-8 (who we get to hear much more from too). Let’s give you a minute to digest some of that footage, make some wild speculations about what you think is going to happen in the upcoming film and then we’ll dig in.

In addition to that important sequence, there are more shots of TIE fighters patrolling the sunburnt skies, the roving droid BB-8 in action and Kylo Ren, the film’s masked and menacing villain, putting his unique three-pronged lightsaber to use. We also get a quick glimpse of the ’Flame-Troopers’ which have been much talked about on the web, as well as a decent glimpse at Captain Phasma, played by Gwendoline Christie. It is found,” Rae recites in voiceover over an image of her crying, a callback to the series’ first film A New Hope and perhaps a clue to how Episode VII will carry over to Episode VIII. We understand the JJ Abrams doesn’t want to give away any of the story (and in some ways we will be forever grateful) but would even a small hint of his whereabouts hurt?

Mad Max will roar back out of the apocalypse while Mad Men rides off into the sunset, rock’s Antichrist Superstar and hip-hop’s Yeezus will rise again. Ah well, we are going to have to wait until December 17 to find out what happened to the Jedi Knight and friend of Captain Solo. (See what we did there?)
