Starbucks Releases Toasted Graham Latte, First New Fall Flavor in Four Years

Starbucks Just Released Its First New Fall Latte In 4 Years.

The latest addition to the growing Starbucks menu starts with graham cracker-steeped milk that’s reminiscent of the cereal milk served at “Masterchef” judge Christina Tosi’s Milk Bar. The resulting brew is warm and screams autumn without the cloying sweetness of the pumpkin spice latte, so the flavor of the coffee still shines through.

The latte isn’t the only new item that Starbucks will debut today — to celebrate the start of fall, cups with colorful illustrations of leaves and pinecones are also rolling out nationwide. According to Starbucks, fans can enjoy its aesthetic offerings, too: The coffee brand has rolled out its pretty fall-pattern paper cup and matching sleeve.

Besides being “reminiscent of favorite fall memories… inspired by the nostalgic flavor of milk left behind in the cereal bowl,” what does a TGL taste like? Java junkies can find the new sipper at a nearby shop, or use the just-launched “Mobile Pay & Order” feature in the Starbucks app to skip the lines and order the drink for pick-up.

Essentially, the drink is “graham crackers and milk all grown up.” A graham cracker-and-sweet cream base is mixed with steamed milk and espresso, shoved into a glass, and topped with a “sprinkling” of cinnamon graham crackers. Best of all, the lattes are served in snazzy new fall paper cups — “monogrammed with customers’ names in orange Sharpie” — that very well could be from a talented preschooler’s coloring book. The TGL is available in the U.S. and Canada until supplies run out — and yes, it can be ordered on Starbucks’ mobile order and pay ahead platform which was rolled out nationwide this week. In fact, it might be our new favorite fall latte (gasp!) The beverage is less sweet than the PSL, so coffee lovers will like that they can still taste the espresso. First, it’s rolling out a limited-edition fall coffee cup that’s designed just for autumn with leaves, berries, pumpkins, and pine cones. (And, if you notice that your baristas look a little different today, it’s because they’re dressed up for the first day of fall.)
