‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Broke Records at the Box Office This Weekend.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens was always destined for a huge box office debut. In June, “Jurassic World” pulled in $208.8 million but conventional wisdom held that summer movies were more likely to draw moviegoers who were out of school or on vacation or certainly not trying to go Christmas shopping. “Rentrak’s PostTrak audience survey shows that 66 percent of ‘The Force Awakens’ audience is male and nearly even split by age with over 25 audiences representing 54 percent of moviegoers and 46 percent under 25. A definite recommend score of 83 percent is an incredibly strong number as reported by PostTrak and indicates an overwhelmingly strong positive response by audiences to the film,” Dergarabedian says.
