Ellie Goulding Denies Her New Song Is About Ed Sheeran, Despite These Telling Lyrics.

Pop is littered with notorious ‘answer’ songs, from Frankee’s ‘FURB (F U Right Back)’, a response to Eamon’s ‘Fuck It (I Don’t Want You Back)’ in 2004, to Lydia Murdock’s ‘Superstar’, a 1983 riposte to Michael Jackson’s ‘Billie Jean’.”This song, we had so much fun writing it, it just comes back to that basic thing of having that person just constantly stuck in our heads,” she explained.

So it’s hardly surprising Ellie Goulding decided to show off her incredible curves in newly released artwork to coincide with her upcoming album, Delirium. And Ellie Goulding made sure all eyes were on her once again as she arrived at the BBC Radio 1 studios in central London for an early appearance after revealing her latest artwork for new record, Delirium. With her sleek blonde tresses windswept across her face, the British star allowed her natural beauty to shine with muted tones of flawlessly applied makeup. ‘A part of me views this album as an experiment – to make a big pop album,’ she explained. ‘I made a conscious decision that I wanted it to be on another level.’ Since the release of her debut album, Lights, in 2010, the talented hitmaker has sold over 20 million records, had two Number One albums, won two Brit Awards and had Vevo views and streams both in excess of one billion. Elongating her toned pins even further, the Burn hitmaker teamed her sexy skirt with a pair of towering black leather heeled shoe boots by Paul Andrew.

Ellie Goulding’s one step ahead here. ‘On My Mind’, the first single from third album ‘Delirium’ (out November 6), is the real deal, arguably written as a slap in the chops for Ed Sheeran. Her single Love Me Like You Do, from the soundtrack to this year’s Fifty Shades Of Grey, was a worldwide Number One hitting the top spot in 70 countries and breaking the record for the most streamed song in one week. Ellie kept the rest of her look relatively simple, opting for a casual red plaid shirt for her top half ahead of her interview with X Factor judge Nick Grimshaw, who hosts the Radio 1 Breakfast Show.

His 2014 single ‘Don’t’ was interpreted by fans as a blatant pop at former girlfriend Goulding, allegedly about her nipping off with One Direction’s Niall Horan while they were all in the same hotel. When EW spoke to her earlier this summer, Goulding said lyrically she was still meditating on love and matters of the heart on the Max Martin-produced effort, but that her sound and voice had evolved into something more empowering. “I swore I wouldn’t write more love and heartbreak songs,” she told EW. “I thought, ‘Do one, get it out of your system.’ So the first song is, like, ‘Hold me! To produce her latest project, Ellie has worked with the likes of Max Martin, Greg Kurstin, One Republic’s Ryan Tedder, Klas Ahlund and Disclosure’s Guy Lawrence as well as long-time writing partner Jim Eliot. The singer wore her platinum blonde locks tumbling around her shoulders in loose waves, and opted for natural make-up to highlight her striking features. Phrases like “lover to burn” and “figure it out” could – with a pinch of imagination; we’re dealing with poets here – be references to Goulding’s ‘Burn’ and ‘Figure 8’. “Don’t fuck with my love,” sang Sheeran.

Delirium also stems from Ellie’s experience, taking the triumphs and heartbreaks and fears and joys and channeling them into something powerful and mesmerizing. I think that’s why I started writing songs in the first place.” Goulding shared the collection’s first single, “On My Mind,” and it will certainly be on ours all afternoon.
