‘SNL’ spoofed Justin Bieber’s Calvin Klein commercials and it was glorious

‘Are my muscles cute?’ Justin Bieber is mercilessly mocked about THAT Calvin Klein advert on Saturday Night Live.

Kate McKinnon brought back her Bieber impersonation and channeled the 20-year-old singer for the sketch, which spoofs the much talked about black-and-white underwear campaign. There may be at least two undiscovered, Earth-sized planets lurking within our solar system, researchers say in two new papers published in the journal Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society Letters.McKinnon’s impression on the latest episode of Saturday Night Live is spot on, spoofing the look and poses in the monochrome advert, as well as providing an insight into what Bieber might have got up to during production.Justin Bieber’s ‘cumbersome’ Calvin Klein advert has been the subject of much debate – so it’s hardly surprising SNL used it for some fodder this week.

Both of the spots end with comments about what’s behind the briefs and poke fun at the controversy surrounding whether Bieber’s bulge and muscles were digitally enhanced in the original ads. Scientists analyzing a set of “extreme trans-Neptunian objects” found that the elliptical paths of the 13 bodies they analyzed had “unexpected orbital parameters.” The team suggests that the discrepancies are the result of “other unknown planets…altering the distribution of the orbital elements.” Such unknown planets — dubbed “Planet X” and now “Planet Y” — would most likely exist beyond Neptune and Pluto, Space.com reports. The series of adverts – which also feature Cecily Strong as model Lara Stone – open with McKinnon as Bieber saying “I’m a big boy now”, followed by a failed attempt at some push ups. In a gripe about the lack of black people up for Oscars this year Michael Che said: ‘I can’t tell you who deserves to be nominated…I mean of all the movies Selma is the only one I’ll even pretend to see’. ‘But really…I get that it’s hard to pronounce a lot of these names,’ he added as images of Lupita Nyong’o, Quvenzhané Wallis, Barkhad Abdi and Chiwetel Ejiofor flashed up behind him. ‘But that’s what makes awards shows so fun… just imagine John Travolta as he introduces the ‘wickedly talented David Oyelowo’,’ he chuckled impersonating Travolta’s blunder at last year’s ceremony.

Lead author of the recent study Carlos de la Fuente Marcos, of the Complutense University of Madrid, agreed that alternate theories must be considered, but that “if (our study) is confirmed, our results may be truly revolutionary for astronomy.”
