Original ‘Ghostbusters’ star Sigourney Weaver returning for reboot.

“Gang, trying to keep surprises but this is about to leak, so I’ll tell you myself: the awesome Sigourney Weaver is going to be in our movie!” director Paul Feig tweeted on Friday. The director of the highly-anticipated upcoming Ghostbusters remake was not having anymore nonsense when he took to Twitter to get a few things off his chest. It’s the latest addition to the cast from the original 1984 “Ghostbusters”: the film’s original stars Bill Murray and Dan Akroyd have already been confirmed for cameos.

Fans of the original series were hounding him with their new qualms about the decision to cast all women in the lead roles of the reboot, a judgment Feig announced nearly a year ago. Weaver played a self-possessed musician, Dana Barrett, who endured a demonic possession in that film, but is likely to play another character in Feig’s versin, which is scheduled to hit theaters July 22, 2016. The new movie will focus on a new batch of paranormal pursuers who aren’t afraid of no ghosts: Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon.

The new fab foursome will be filling the proton packs once wielded by Murray, Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson and the late Harold Ramis in the first two “Ghostbusters movies in the ‘80s. Sony had high hopes for a third installment of the supernatural comedy franchise, but original director Ivan Reitman dropped out in the wake of his friend Ramis’ death last year.

The 65-year-old actress will also return to the James Cameron’s world Pandora with three “Avatar” sequels – a miraculous recovery considering her character died in the 2009 original.
