Anthony Cumia Of ‘Opie And Anthony’ Arrested In Long Island Domestic Abuse Case.

Anthony Cumia, the former co-host of radio show “Opie and Anthony” who was fired last year, was arrested this weekend and faces domestic violence charges, according to the Associated Press.

The 54-year-old former Opie and Anthony co-host was set to be arraigned early Sunday on charges of strangulation, criminal mischief, assault and unlawful imprisonment, a Nassau County Police Department spokeswoman told TIME. Meanwhile a video has surfaced on YouTube documenting the argument between Cumia and Danielle Brand during which the woman — described by Cumia’s attorney in court as his client’s girlfriend — accuses the broadcaster of breaking one of her ribs. Cumia emphatically denies the allegations brought against him, and is optimistic that when the truth comes out, he will be exonerated,” attorney Alan Schwartz said in a statement. Police arrived at Cumia’s home Saturday morning, where they say the shock jock was strangling the 26-year-old victim, described by some news reports as his girlfriend. He called a black woman a “pig” and “an animal” after she allegedly punched him in the face for trying to take a photo. “There’s a deep seeded problem with violence in the black community,” Cumia said at the time. “It’s really open season on white people in this day and age.

In 2014, Sirius XM fired Cumia from the show after he tweeted racially charged remarks that the company called “abhorrent.” He now hosts his own online talk show called The Anthony Cumia Show. Cumia, an Elwood native, was fired by Sirius XM last year after the company said he made “racially-charged and hate-filled remarks on social media.” Cumia posted a series of tweets claiming he was punched by a woman while he was taking a photograph.

Court documents show that while Brand and Cumia were together about 4 a.m. they began arguing over a comment made earlier by Brand about a former “dating partner” of Cumia. It says the woman, “after she made several attempts to flee, made it outside the house, only to have the defendant carry her back in, and then pin her against the wall, and wrap his hands around her neck.” When Brand tried to call the police, the documents show, Cumia took away the cellphone and smashed it. In the Periscope video, which shows Cumia in the background laughing, Cumia calls the film, “The Anthony and Dani Show” after they scream back and forth at each other. Four years later, the show was canceled by Infinity Broadcasting after promoting a contest that resulted in a couple calling in to say they were having sex in St. The pair called him Homeless Charlie and he mentioned the possibility of raping former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and former first lady Laura Bush.
