‘Shallow Hal’ Star Dies From :Pneumonia.

The actor’s mother told the website she took her son to a Kauai emergency room early last week, where doctors discovered he was suffering from an advanced case of pneumonia. Co-director Peter Farrelly spotted Shintani, whose performance of “Never Forget Where I’m From” in “Shallow Hal” made him a local legend, while he was playing his ukelele outside a Hawaiian library.

Just a high school senior at the time, producer Peter Farrelly saw Joshua strumming his uke outside of a public library in Hawaii and gave him the role on the spot. We’re glad that Joshua got to leave his gentle legacy on film for all of his friends and family to remember him by, we just wish we could have seen more from this bright young actor.
