First trailer released for Bulger movie ‘Black Mass’.

Black Mass doesn’t arrive in theaters for four months, but Warner Bros. has already released a second trailer for the Johnny Depp crime drama. “There are lessons again and again throughout your whole life, and you got to learn from these things, right?” Depp says. “It’s not what you do, it’s when and where you do it, and who you do it to or with.” The movie — based on the book “Black Mass: Whitey Bulger, the FBI, and a Devil’s Deal,” by former Globe reporters Dick Lehr and Gerard O’Neill — is set for release on September 18.An Ohio dad added a twist to the traditional “father-daughter” dance at his daughter’s wedding when he surprised her with a baseball and baseball gloves and started a game of catch on the dance floor. “My daughter has always found her own path. The teaser trailer for we all saw back in April was a good way to introduce Johnny Depp’s take on notorious crime boss James ‘Whitey’ Bulger without giving away an ounce of plot.

Bulger is played by Johnny Depp, who is nearly unrecognizable, as he takes on the infamous gangster’s male-pattern baldness, added girth, and dead-eyed stare. I never really thought of Rick Ross when reading about the dark and depraved crimes carried out by Whitey Bulger as he held the city of Boston in the palm of his hand, but the latest trailer for may have me seeing things differently. In the stranger-than-fiction story, Bulger’s childhood best friend, John Connolly (Joel Edgerton) grew up to be an F.B.I. agent, who brought Bulger into the feds’ fold as an informant to work against their common enemy, the Italian mob. Backed by the Jay Z-assisted track “The Devil Is A Lie,” our second look at Depp’s turn as Bulger is filled with violent imagery, smart-ass one-liners, and a general sense of ‘this is going to be make being a vicious gangster look cool.’ You can view the footage below. won’t be out until the end of summer, but it would be nice to see a bit more of the plot before that time comes.

If nobody sees it, it didn’t happen.” Directed by Scott Cooper and starring Depp, Joel Edgerton, Benedict Cumberbatch, Dakota Johnson, Kevin Bacon and Corey Stoll, Black Mass is out on Sept. 18. Pictures’ film, set in 1970s South Boston, which stars Depp and Edgerton, alongside Kevin Bacon, Dakota Johnson, Jesse Plemons, Sienna Miller, Adam Scott, and, as reported, Benedict Cumberbatch, playing Bulger’s brother. That said, Depp looks to be giving his all to the role, and that alone gives me a good reason to see the film when it arrives in theaters September 18.

The first trailer for Black Mass was dark, focusing on Bulger’s ruthless enthusiasm for violence, but this preview shows the film’s, well, not exactly softer side, but at least a funnier one. It breaks up the relentless gore with moments of levity, like Bulger’s poor parenting or when an elderly neighbor welcomes him back to the neighborhood and congratulates him on his release from Alcatraz ten years ago.
