Sean Penn Files $10 Million Defamation Lawsuit Against Empire Creator Lee Daniels Over Terrence Howard Remark.

Yeesh! has filed a $10 million defamation lawsuit against Lee Daniels, after the Empire creator’s recent comments about Terrence Howard indirectly linked Penn to domestic violence. In papers filed in Manhattan Supreme Court, the “Dead Man Walking” star says Daniels defamed him when he compared him to scandal-scarred “Empire” star Terrence Howard in a recent interview. “That poor boy, (Terrence) ain’t done nothing different than Marlon Brando or Sean Penn, and all of a sudden he’s some f—in’ demon. In the 10-page complaint, Penn is described as “one of this generation’s most highly-acclaimed and greatest artists and humanitarians.” “As a result of Penn’s status as a public figure, he has for years been the subject of scandalous, scurrilous, and baseless attacks,” the document obtained by The Hollywood Reporter states. “But Penn, like any citizen, has a right to defend himself and will no longer tolerate the reckless and malicious behavior of others, who seek to aggrandize themselves or their projects at his expense.

He also pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct after a couple in a restaurant accused him of attacking them after the woman complained that he had cut in line. Accordingly, and because of Daniels’ defamatory statements, Penn brings this action for monetary relief, and to deter Daniels and others from their defamatory actions.” The legal complaint also cites Howard’s admission to physically abusing women or treating them with violence. “Daniels has falsely asserted and/or implied that Penn is guilty of ongoing, continuous violence against women,” it reads.

While “he has certainly had several brushes with the law, Penn (unlike Howard) has never been arrested, much less convicted, for domestic violence, as his ex-wives (including Madonna) would confirm and attest,” the suit says. “Nor has Penn admitted to “slap(ping) a woman or abusing others (as Howard has also reportedly admitted, reportedly asserted that he was acting in self-defense.)” The suit cites a police report that quotes Howard as saying, “I broke down the door and hit my wife,” and an interview with Rolling Stone, where Howard is quoted as saying, “She was talking to me real strong, and I lost my mind and slapped her in front of the kids.” The suit says Daniels’ statements “have caused Penn great anguish and emotional distress,” and injured his “credibility and reputation in his personal life, occupation and philanthropic activities.” “Madonna asked that there be no criminal charges pressed. There is no other evidence with which to base a criminal charge so there won’t be a criminal charge filed,” a spokesman for the DA’s office said at the time. The family of a comedian who died in the horrific crash that nearly killed funnyman Tracy Morgan settled their wrongful death suit against Walmart for $10 million, it was reported Friday. The out-of-court settlement between James (Uncle Jimmy Mack) McNair’s estate and the company was the first stemming from the June 7 crash in which a Walmart truck slammed into a limo van carrying Morgan and others home from a show in Delaware. The sum was revealed in a court filing where McNair’s lawyer, Daryl Zaslow, was arguing that he’s entitled to a $3 million fee for his work on the case, the AP reported.

When the deal was signed last month, he told the Daily News that it means McNair, 62, “can look down and be assured that his family is well taken care of.” “Whenever you have a situation like this, you always have mixed emotions, but the family could not be happier to have this piece done and try to move on with their lives,” he said. “While no amount of money could replace my father, the amount of money Mr.
