In other news announced by Fox Saturday, the network has ordered a second season of Empire, a third season of Brooklyn Nine-Nine and a second season of Gotham. Fox Entertainment CEOs and Chairman Dana Walden and Gary Newman said “our first call” when they took their new jobs five months ago was to Murphy, whose first big hit was “Glee” on Fox. It was kind of the perfect situation.” With her first film role at age 5 (playing Mel Gibson’s daughter in Signs), Breslin has focused on movies her whole career, most recently starring in the Oscar-nominated August: Osage County and Ender’s Game, along with a few brief ventures into theater (and, later, music), but TV hasn’t been on her resume until now. “Film is always going to be my first passion. While Murphy moved on to edgier cable shows, including “American Horror Story,” he agreed to develop “Scream Queens” as a “comedy-horror anthology” for broadcast. The show will run 15 episodes and have some DNA from classic horror shows as well as quasi-parodies like “Scream.” The center of early episodes is expected to be a series of college campus murders. She also noted Scream Queens “amazing” big-name cast—Breslin joins Lea Michele, Joe Manganiello, Emma Roberts, Keke Palmer, Jamie Lee Curtis, and guest star Ariana Grande—although she couldn’t say which of them she’d be working with.
