Sandra Lee Leaves Hospital After Breast Cancer Surgery, Now at Home With Andrew Cuomo and Pet Birds.

The celebrity chef, 48, who is battling breast cancer and currently healing from a double mastectomy, shared a photo Monday to tell her followers that she is headed home. She had previously had a lumpectomy and was also told to undergo radiation therapy for six to eight weeks. “Home after a long week in the hospital, so happy to be in my own backyard. There is no place like home! #HappyMemorialDay,” read a message posted on Lee’s Facebook page on Monday, alongside a photo of boyfriend and New York Governor , 57, and a white umbrella cockatoo, one of their birds. Staff for Sandra Lee (l.) posted the photo at right on Facebook saying “we want to thank so many people for reaching out and taking the time to send such beautiful flowers, fruits, chocolates, notes and emails.” Lee had anticipated leaving the hospital Friday after her Tuesday surgery.

The two have been together since 2005 and live in her six-bedroom house that they call Lily Pond, located in New Castle, about 40 miles north of New York City. “Today is an exciting day! On Saturday, she said in a video update posted to her Facebook: “Both Rita [Wilson] and Christina Applegate told me I was not gonna be as strong as I thought I was gonna be, and they’re right,” she said of her actress friends, both breast cancer survivors. “It’s really throwing me for a loop.”
