Now, he’s given the covers LP a release date — September 21st — album art and the first taste of the final product with his version of “Bad Blood.” Adams’ 1989 will be released digitally for now, though he has indicated that CD and vinyl versions will also be released. He also shared the album’s cover art and revealed his full version of Swift’s ‘Bad Blood’ would get its premiere on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 Radio show tonight (Sep 17). Adams has announced that the album will launch digitally on September 21st, and one track, “Bad Blood,” will debut today at 12PM ET exclusively on Apple’s Beats 1. Adams announced that he would be recording the cover version at the start of August and has been keeping fans updated with his progress, posting various behind the scenes video clips and photos on Twitter and Instagram.

News first broke that Adams was tackling the record last month, when he started Tweeting snippets of late-night recording sessions, along with 30-second audio clips. Adams has already shared previews of ‘Welcome To New York’, ‘Bad Blood’, ‘All You Had To Do Was Stay’, ‘Out Of The Woods’, ‘Wildest Dreams’ and ‘Shake It Off’. In late August, he mentioned he was putting the final touches on it, but has been mum since. “1989” will be Adams 15th studio album, following his 2014 self-titled release, which landed at No. 4 on the Billboard 200. Earlier this summer, Swift expressed excitement over the project in a statement to EW, saying: “Ryan Adams is one of the artists who shaped my songwriting.

Still, Adams doesn’t soften the girl-fight track too much, retaining its catchiness and bouncy, upbeat sound. “Ryan’s music helped shape my songwriting,” Swift wrote of the tribute. “This is surreal and dreamlike.” The pop star also revealed a countdown to the album release as well. My favorite part of his style of creating music is his ability to bleed aching vulnerability into it, and that’s what he’s done with his cover project of my album 1989. His haunting version of the Oasis smash hit “Wonderwall” compelled Noel Gallagher to once say, “I think Ryan Adams is the only person who ever got that song right.” Below are a few other clips posted during the production of Adams’ 1989 cover album. He’s gotten some of the best musicians together to record this album and if the clips he’s released are any indication, this is going to be something really special.” The pair covered Neil Young’s “Old Man” together. 2015 may not bring everything that Back to the Future II promised it would: flying cars, self-lacing shoes, we don’t see ’em happening over the next 12 months. (Then again, don’t bet against Nike.) But this year will definitely pack plenty of punch when it comes to cultural happenings.
