Famous people beware: Ricky Gervais is hosting the 2016 Golden Globes.

Irreverent British comedian Ricky Gervais will host the Golden Globes in 2016 for a fourth time, organisers say, bringing his biting humour to the glitzy annual movie and television awards ceremony in Los Angeles.

Ricky got a lot of grief for his divisive gags over the last few times he hosted, to the point that he admitted at the time: ‘I’ve told my agent to never let me be persuaded to do it again though. Gervais, the creator of mockumentary The Office, hosted the dinner for three consecutive years from 2010-2012, keeping his celebrity targets on edge with a stream of barbed comments. “His off-the-cuff wit and quirky charm will surely have the room and audiences around the world at the edge of their seats,” Lorenzo Soria, president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, said in a statement. “Disarming and surprising, Ricky is ready to honour — and send up — the best work of the year in film and television.

Fasten your seats belts.” The star and brains behind the popular TV shows The Office, Extras, and Derek has won seven Bafta awards, five British Comedy Awards, three Golden Globes and two Emmys. He also created the comedy series Extras and Life’s Too Short as well as appearing in movies including Night at the Museum, The Invention of Lying and Muppets Most Wanted.
