Guess which classic Disney character Reese Witherspoon has signed on to play.

The ‘Wild’ actress is reportedly set to star as Peter Pan’s sidekick in an upcoming live-action take on the fairy’s story. The Oscar winner is attached to produce and star in “Tink,” a live-action movie based on the beloved “Peter Pan” character Tinker Bell, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

But Victoria Strouse, who penned the screenplay for “Finding Dory,” the upcoming sequel to “Finding Nemo,” has been tapped to write the script. The 39-year-old Oscar-winner will play Tinker Bell in the film, which will show a new side to the character in a similar style to the way Maleficent delved into the character of the evil witch. The plot of “Tink” will echo another live-action version of a Disney film, Angelina Jolie’s hit 2014 “Maleficent,” which told the story of “Sleeping Beauty” from the villain’s point of view. It’s the second “Peter Pan”-related film in recent memory (we’re not counting NBC’s “Peter Pan Live!”) and continues Disney’s trend of turning beloved cartoons into live-action films. “Beauty and the Beast,” starring Emma Watson, is due out March 2017, and the studio recently announced plans to remake “Pinocchio” and “Mulan,” among other franchises.

Tinker Bell was originally a minor character in JM Barrie’s original children’s book Peter Pan, but the temperamental fairy’s popularity grew after the Disney animated film came out and she now has her own spin-off movie series. While the character is best known from Disney’s animated version of the J.M Barrie story, Tinker Bell has been portrayed in a live-action film before: Julia Roberts played Peter Pan’s best pal in the 1991 film “Hook.”

Back in 2010, Elizabeth Banks was attached to the role, and said the film was about what happens when Tinker Bell gets thrown out of Never Never Land. “It’s about where she goes and who she meets and the adventures she has …” Banks said at the time. However, Tinkerbell’s affection for Peter does cause her to commit a very selfless act, taking a bomb meant for him that was left by the evil Captain Hook. But the upcoming adaptation of “Beauty” will showcase one of Disney’s best heroines with Belle, who takes her father’s place as the Beast’s prisoner and learns to love the Beast for who he truly is.
