Selena Gomez Is Rooting for Justin Bieber’s Comeback: ”This Is What I Always Saw in Him”.

The “Same Old Love” crooner opened up to The New York Times about how her past relationship helped shape her upcoming (and highly anticipated) album, Revival.

Snapped on the beach in her bathing suit by paparazzi, tabloids and Internet commenters quickly started weighing in on her curvier figure and apparent weight gain — calling her “fat” and telling her to work out. “I had a moment and was like, ‘Wait a minute? I was in a relationship, and I was being managed by my parents, and I was still under Hollywood and Disney, and I was being held to this expectation of being the good girl.” “I knew deep down that this wasn’t what I wanted to do — being exhausted of forcing something that wasn’t right, even in my personal life. And while she’s brushed it off, she is concerned for the younger generation, particularly her younger sister. “With social media there is so much access to people’s feelings and their hearts more than ever,” she added to the site. “I am so terrified for my little sister to go to school because everything has changed and gotten a little bit more intense.” “I think it’s equally as important to have [friends] who aren’t in the industry: I live with two roommates, and one of them’s a realtor and the other one works for a charity …

I make the decision, everything goes through me.” Meanwhile, Gomez’s bestie Taylor Swift told the Times, “In the last two years, I’ve seen Selena start to make her career her own…Her childhood was defined by working hard, with the major business decisions primarily being made by others. I’m able to recognize how people treat me differently than they treat my friends who aren’t famous,” Gomez recently told Extra. “And then you have people like Taylor [Swift] or Demi [Lovato] or anyone that you’re able tolook in the eye and go, ‘My gosh, this hurts, I don’t understand this. It really upset me for honestly, maybe an hour, because I pulled myself out of it and posted a picture on Instagram where I’m laying down, and my comment back was like, ‘I’m happy with myself.’ Then the next day, that’s what all the headlines ended up becoming. It sucked.” For Selena, flipping the script wasn’t just about shutting down the fat-shamers — it was also about setting an example to her more than 44 million Instagram followers and fans. “I wanted them to be able to be like, ‘Yeah, good. I could post a nude photo on my Instagram and it’s going to get picked up more than one article.’ I wouldn’t do that, but I could post anything and I know that is my voice and I’m able to control it.

I do feel like after a year of going through all my ups and downs — and I’m assuming they’re going to continue to come my way — but I feel really great about myself, I feel really happy.
