Colbert snags ratings win with ‘Late Show’ premiere.

Colbert, opening his second program on Wednesday night, said that a combination of an overstuffed show that needed to be edited and a technical glitch temporarily prevented producers from sending the finished product to the network. “At 11:20 — and this actually happened — no one in the building could give me a guarantee that the show was going to be on the air,” he said. “I get the impression that you’re a deep person,” Stephen Colbert told guest Scarlett Johansson on Wednesday’s Late Show. “I like to give the impression that I’m a deep person.Tuesday night’s premiere of “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” drew big ratings on CBS, averaging 6.6 million viewers — more than double the audience of its next closest competitor.

The fast way, according to Musk, would be to drop thermonuclear weapons on the poles of Mars, which would warm the planet and would trigger a chain reaction that releases carbon dioxide into the Martian atmosphere, and then continues to warm the planet. On Wednesday’s episode, host Stephen Colbert admitted that production problems almost prevented his debut show from even making it to air. “The show premiered last night and I’m happy to say we made it to day two. Can we get real?” The proposition was for her to lay by him on a blanket under the night sky, in a segment he called “Big Questions With Even Bigger Stars.” It’s hard to tell how planned out this was, but Johansson had the best question — “What do you think Oprah is doing right now?” — setting Colbert up for the best answer. As expected, Colbert’s debut easily topped NBC’s “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” (2.9 million viewers) and ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live” (1.8 million viewers). For further late-night history comparison, Letterman’s sign-off in May averaged 13.8 million viewers, while Fallon’s “Tonight Show” debut drew 11.3 million viewers after the Olympics in February 2012.

Actress Scarlett Johansson was Colbert’s guest, the second straight night he featured a celebrity who also played a prominent role in predecessor David Letterman’s final run of shows.
