Cops: Rapper Young Thug threatened to shoot mall security guard.

The 22-year-old rapper, whose birth name is Jeffery Lamar Williams, was arrested without incident around 6 a.m. at a residence in Sandy Springs, according to Jim Joyner, spokesman for the U.S. According to a criminal arrest warrant obtained by the music website Pigeons and Planes, the rapper was arrested for making “terroristic threats” against a mall security guard.

Williams had with Perimeter Mall security.” According to an arrest warrant, Williams was asked to leave the mall and was being escorted out when he “threatened to shoot (a security guard) in the face.” As of 11 a.m., Williams had not yet been booked into the DeKalb County jail, where Joyner said he will be taken for his initial appearance and bond hearing. Williams, who was born in Sylvan Hills, is perhaps best known for his recent single “Stoner” and is a member of Gucci Mane’s Atlanta-based record label. In 2013, his 1017 Thug release made Rolling Stone’s list of the 10 best mixtapes of the year, and “Picachu” made Rolling Stone’s list of the 100 best songs of the year. The rapper’s song “Stoner” was a Number Five rap hit last year, and his single “Check” made the Hot 100 earlier this year. “Anyone can rap if you’ve got brains,” Young Thug told Rolling Stone last December about how he fell into making music. “So I just went with it.” 2015 may not bring everything that Back to the Future II promised it would: flying cars, self-lacing shoes, we don’t see ’em happening over the next 12 months. (Then again, don’t bet against Nike.) But this year will definitely pack plenty of punch when it comes to cultural happenings. Mad Max will roar back out of the apocalypse while Mad Men rides off into the sunset, rock’s Antichrist Superstar and hip-hop’s Yeezus will rise again.
