‘Outlander’ Fans Help Caitriona Balfe Beat 63 TV Personalities To Emerge As ‘Girl On Top’ 2015.

“It looks magnificent, the show looks incredible, and just trying to find where Jamie and Claire fit into that world, is exactly the kind of journey they’re having.” Scots actor Cavanah will be a familiar face for Jamie Fraser, who is played by fellow countryman Sam Heughan , as he takes on the role of his cousin Jared Fraser.“Outlander,” the hit time travel series based on a set of novels by Diana Gabaldon, has issued a casting call for a pivotal character named Brianna. The actress, who plays Claire Fraser in the Starz time-travel series, beat off competition from 63 other challengers to claim the title of TV’s top woman. Fans of Gabaldon’s fiction will know the character from the second book in the “Outlander” series, “Dragonfly in Amber.” Brianna is the red-headed offspring of Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan).

Caitriona competed in a close final with Arrow actress Emily Bett Rickards, with only 2 per cent separating the stars during certain points in the voting. In June Dysart Harbour, in Fife, was transformed into a 1700s-themed set, and last week, two of the show’s main stars, and Tobias Menzies, were spotted shooting a duel in Glasgow’s Pollok Park.

As reported by TV Line, the official character description details Brianna as a 20-something American woman who is “strong-minded, intelligent beyond her years with an effortless charm and sparkling sense of humor (traits inherited from both her mother and father.” The character should have a “scholastic mindset, with a healthy dose of American strength, having been born and bred in Boston under the watchful eye of professor and historian Frank Randall.” And she will be relatively tall too, 5-foot-8 or over. The win comes just a month after the star won Best Actress in a drama series in the Entertainment Weekly’s EWwy Awards – scooping the title with a whopping 81.8 per cent of the vote.

She tweeted: “I know OL [Outlander] fans are busy voting and whilst greatly appreciated let’s focus attention on raising awareness for the refugee crisis that’s happening… The fan base of both “Arrow” and “Outlander” is said to have worked hard to ensure their respective victory, but in the end the determination of Balfe’s fans helped the actress to get the title. The main duty that comes with the title is “continuing to be awesome while portraying one of our favorite female TV characters on one of our favorite TV shows.” As citizens of this world we can do better.” The series, which is based on Diana Gabaldon ‘s second book Dragonfly in Amber, sees Claire and Jamie flee Scotland for France to seek out Bonnie Prince Charlie.

The actor had previously emerged as the Sci-fi Champion of 2015, and for the final TV Champion round he had to take on Ricky Gervais, who had won the Comedy Champion award in the same competition. Heughan said that he was “very astonished” by the number of votes and joked that many fans didn’t have any fingers left after the intense voting.
