Jamie Chung to return on ‘Once Upon a Time’.

In the wake of Mulan returning to Once Upon a Time, executive producers Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis promise to finally explore an LGBT relationship on the upcoming season.Chung’s Mulan hasn’t been seen on the ABC hit since season three, when she ran off with Robin Hood (Sean Maguire) and his band of Merry Men after learning that the love of her life, Princess Aurora (Sarah Bolger), was pregnant with Prince Philip’s (Julian Morris) baby.Details about Mulan’s appearance this season are being kept under lock and key, but Entertainment Weekly is reporting that she’ll be featured in multiple episodes, appearing in the first and second-halves of the season.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Jamie Chung, who plays Mulan, is confirmed to reprise her role in the upcoming season. “It felt so natural to begin with”, Chung said in an exclusive interview with E! online during the 2014 Winter TCA Press Tour.Mulan (Jamie Chung) has been missing for a while and fans will be happy to know that she has been confirmed as the show’s latest returning cast member, following news of Meghan Ory’s return to the cast as Red. This is the world we live in.” The ambiguity in their answer, however, leaves open the possibility that this exploration may not just be about the Mulan and Aurora relationship, but potentially any of the new characters hailing from Camelot, or faces we’ve seen before across the past five seasons. We were on hand as the pair spoke to reporters after a screening of the season premiere, where they were asked whether the show would use Chung’s return to further explore Mulan’s feelings for Aurora (Sarah Bolger)—feelings that were only hinted at back in season three. “We know that community have been big supporters of the show and we would love to be able to tell a love story that reflects that,” Kitsis said.

Apparently, “Once Upon A Time” Season 5 will have Mulan appearing in multi-episodes but everything else surrounding her return were being kept in utmost secrecy. Chung admitted that she would return as Mulan in a heartbeat because she finds it disappointing to leave the OUAT fans with this big question mark on her character.

Meanwhile, in the Enchanted Forest, Emma struggles to resist her dark urges as she searches for Merlin in the hope that he can stop her transformation. Executive producer Adam Horowitz shared on Twitter that Mulan is slated to appear in both halves of the fifth season, which would be great news for the princess’ admirers. Regina has started to become more of a hero in the past seasons; however, her evil tendencies still surface every now and then, so whether or not she’s ready to take on a full hero role is yet to be seen.
