New Kids On The Block announce new tour.

New Kids on the Block will team with TLC and Nelly for their summer tour “The Main Event,” which stops at Nassau Coliseum on June 20 and Madison Square Garden June 21 and 22. “It’s just going to be an amazing show,” said New Kids’ Donnie Wahlberg at a news conference in the Madison Square Garden lobby Tuesday morning. “We perform.Earlier today, Donnie Wahlberg, Joey McIntyre, Jordan Knight, Jonathan Knight and Danny Wood stopped by Good Morning America to make a special announcement that is sure to send fans of the boy band into a frenzy. “We have decided to reform again—not that we have broken up—but we are gonna go back out on tour this summer, which is great news for our fans because we haven’t toured in the U.S. in a couple of years. Bandmember Donnie Wahlberg called the tour the “event of the year.” “This is such a great bill and we have so many hit records and such huge followings that we just want to make it the party of the year,” Wahlberg said.

Not only will the Boston dudes be performing all their hits and newer, less-cheesy tracks in the round (or “in the square,” as pointed out on GMA) but they’ll have barstools and long tables on the perimeter of the stage for the luckiest of fans. The news comes after TLC’s announcement of a comeback with the help of Kickstarter as the duo is asking for donations from fans to fund their ‘final’ album. Opening acts are no slouches in the hitmaking department, either: The remaining members of TLC and superstar rapper Nelly will fill out the “Main Event” bill. Alluding to the fact that the group’s once teen and tween-aged fans are older now, Wahlberg disclosed a more adult tone for the production for the upcoming NKTOB tour.

I’m excited.” (The band toured with Backstreet Boys in 2011 and 98 Degrees and Boyz II Men in 2013.) The initial idea to hit the road together came when both groups performed at the Mixtape Festival in Hershey, Penn., in July 2013. “We all fell in love at that time and that’s when the ideas started to brew,” Thomas explained. “When our manager called us, we were like ‘Hell yeah.’ I think it’s a perfect combination.” Besides the new gig, TLC also has high hopes for what is being billed as their final album. And so does Nelly.” Tickets for the tour, which starts May 1 in Las Vegas and runs through July 2 in Buffalo, go on sale Jan. 31 through Live Nation.
