The Nightly Show’s Larry Wilmore is taking his comedic commentary to Washington, D.C., on April 30, when he’ll host the 2016 White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner. “Larry’s edgy, even provocative, brand of humor means he’s certainly up to the task of skewering politicians of all ideological stripes, and we don’t expect the nation’s news media to escape unscathed, either,” said Carol Lee, the president of the White House Correspondents’ Association. On last night’s “Nightly Show,” host Larry Wilmore hit a new low when he actually questioned Ted Cruz’s — er, well — “manhood” saying, “Do you know how small your d*ck has to be for you to do something like that?” “He’s going to do everything the KKK does. Wilmore will join Cecily Strong, Joel McHale, Conan O’Brien, Jimmy Kimmel, Seth Meyers, Jay Leno, and Wanda Sykes as comedians who have hosted during Barack Obama’s presidency.

The annual dinner provides scholarships for young aspiring journalists, but is more commonly noted for the star-studded guest list, the entertainer’s roast of the administration, and the president’s one-liners. ITK reported earlier this month that a “Nightly Show” intern claimed in a tweet that Wilmore had announced his WHCA duties during a taping of his show.
