Duggar Family Issues Statement After TLC Cancels ’19 Kids And Counting’.

On Thursday, TLC announced that it has canceled 19 Kids and Counting due to the revelation that one of its stars, Josh Duggar, allegedly molested several young girls—including four of his sisters.* The network pulled the show of the air shortly after InTouch published police reports detailing Duggar’s misdeeds, and Duggar tacitly conceded that the reports were accurate. Years ago, when we were asked to film our first one hour documentary about the logistics of raising 14 children, we felt that it was an opportunity to share with the world that children are a blessing and a gift from God.AP In this 2007 file photo, Michelle Duggar, left, is surrounded by her children and husband Jim Bob, second from left, after the birth of her 17th child in Rogers, Ark. A Discovery spokesperson told CNN that the network is not ruling out a spin-off of the show however featuring some of the Duggar children, with Jill and Jessa seeming the most likely choices as they have both started families of their own. We are so pleased with the wonderful adults they have all become,” the statement said. “It is our prayer that the painful situation our family went through many years ago can point people toward faith in God and help others who also have lived through similar dark situations to find help, hope and healing, as well.” The news has brought renewed awareness to the problem of sexual abuse, and spurred a conversation about how to prevent molestation and help victims of abuse.

Writing on her blog after the news broke, the Baptist brood’s matriarch, Michelle Duggar, thanked the show’s fans as well as the film crew members for the time they spent documenting the family’s lives over ten seasons. “With God’s grace and help Josh, our daughters and our entire family overcame a terrible situation, found healing and a way forward. About 1 in 5 girls and 1 in 20 boys is a victim of child sexual abuse, according to the Crimes Against Children Research Center, but because it is often not reported, the prevalence may in fact be much higher. The show will no longer appear on the air, the network said in a statement. “The recent attention around the Duggars has sparked a critical and important conversation about child protection.” The ax took a long time to fall — but it was no surprise. As in the Duggars’ situation, 3 out of 4 adolescents who have been sexually assaulted were victimized by someone they knew well, according to a 2003 National Institute of Justice report. For his part, Josh has maintained a low profile since acknowledging his past crimes, resigning his position at the viciously anti-gay Family Research Council and even avoiding family photos.

You might recall the headlines in May that blared news that Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar’s eldest son, Josh, had admitted to molesting five underage girls, including his sisters. Although the Duggar parents openly mourned the Supreme Court’s decision bringing marriage equality to every state, Josh declined to comment publicly.

We love each of you and look forward to unfolding the future with peace and joy.’ This news comes one month after InTouch obtained documents confirming that the Duggar family is still being investigated by local law enforcement and the Department of Human Services. The boyfriend of Bobbi Kristina Brown, Nick Gordon, was officially served with a $10 million lawsuit accusing him of beating Brown and stealing from her after her dire medical crisis. Over the last several years people have said to us, “We love your show!” We have always responded, “It’s not a show, it’s our lives!” Our desire in opening our home to the world is to share Bible principles that are the answers for life’s problems. Those documents revealed that Tontitown Police and the Washington County Sheriff’s Department were at their home for 30 minutes in May after receiving a call that the reality TV family was barring an official from entering the premises. Gordon was leaving a Starbucks in Longwood, Fla., north of Orlando, clutching a large whip cream-topped Frappuccino, on Sunday when a process server appeared and shoved a manila envelope in his hands.

Audio of a 911 call on May 27, also obtained by InTouch, revealed a human services team had reason to believe there was a welfare emergency concerning one of the family’s 19 children at home in Washington County, Arkansas. Filed in Fulton County, Ga., on June 24, the civil complaint claimed Gordon caused “substantial” harm to Whitney Houston’s 22-year-old daughter, including an incident when he punched her in the face, “knocking out a front tooth and (dragged) her upstairs by her hair.” It also claimed Gordon kept an iron grip on Brown’s finances and personal life, making a habit of answering her cell phone and not allowing her to make appointments without his approval.

On the day of her tragic bathtub incident, Brown had made plans to meet up with someone to whom she’d previously confided that Gordon was “not the man she thought he was.” “The loud argument ended and Brown was later found unresponsive and unconscious, face down in a bathtub, with her mouth swollen and another tooth knocked out,” said the complaint, which was filed by Brown’s court-appointed conservator Bedelia Hargrove. Details of son Josh’s molestation scandal revealed that the family was not as cooperative as they could have been back in 2006 when authorities learned what had happened years before.

But he didn’t have any part of his game working and shot a 4-over-par 76 that included just one birdie. “I made so many mistakes,” a dejected Woods said following his round. “I just didn’t play well. It was not ideal. … It was just one of those mixed bags.” Then, to add insult to serious injury, ESPN British Open analyst Paul Azinger ripped into him, unleashing a tirade of scorching criticism and calling the 14-time major champ a “middle-of-the-pack hack.” “You almost want to say, ‘Who are you and what have you done to Tiger Woods?'” Ouch.

We have committed to Him that in all things — difficulties or success, good times or bad — we will purpose to bring Him honor by staying true to our faith and our family. Jill, who was 12 when the inappropriate touching took place, recalled feeling ‘sad’ and ‘shocked’ at the revelation Josh had violated her and her sister.

He resigned immediately as activists angrily denounced him and his family as hypocrites for preaching family values while allegedly covering up past sexual abuse. The 22-year-old mother-to-be told the Fox News host: ‘I do want to speak up in his defense against people who are calling him a child molester or a pedophile or a rapist, some people are saying. ‘I’m like, that is so overboard and a lie, really. TLC also canceled the popular show, Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, after allegations surfaced about a relationship between the show’s matriarch June “Mama June” Shannon and a man convicted of child molestation.

The young women said they had a choice to make, and they chose to forgive him, but it took some time for them to rebuild the trust – time that Josh Duggar spent away from the rest of the clan at the command of his parents. It was in early May that InTouch obtained and released the damning police report, leading to a statement almost immediately from Josh admitting to the claims made in the report. ‘Twelve years ago, as a young teenager, I acted inexcusably for which I am extremely sorry and deeply regret. That dark and difficult time caused us to seek God like never before.’ He was never charged with a crime for the incidents as by the time police learned of the offenses the statue of limitations had passed, and his parents did not notify authorities in an official capacity at any point after learning about their son’s actions.

It is also interesting to note that when the family moved into their custom built home in 2006, communal rooms for the male members of the family and female members of the family were on exact opposite sides of the 7,000-square-foot dwelling. As a final precaution, the journey also requires a walk across an elevated catwalk that cuts through the family’s two-story living room, another chance for people in the house to keep an eye on who was spending time together. Meanwhile, it seems TLC has already found a replacement family for the Duggars, premiering their new reality series I Am Jazz on Wednesday night, just hours before they announced the cancellation.

Michelle Duggar had previously campaigned against transgender individuals and their rights by narrating a robocall to local voters in 2014 over a proposed anti-discrimination ordinance in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Siri now corrects people referring to Jenner as “Bruce.” If you ask Siri, “How tall is Bruce Jenner?” you’ll receive “Caitlyn Jenner is 6’2” tall.” Jenner has been advocating for the transgender community since her transition, and many on Twitter called Siri’s behavior a win.
