First ‘Fuller House’ teaser gives glimpse of Netflix reboot: ‘Welcome home’.

Candace Cameron Bure will return as D.J. No, it’s the trailer for a spinoff of a classic late-’80s sitcom “Full House” on the familiar (rebuilt) set, a tease for the Netflix series “Fuller House.” The trailer beckons with nostalgic guitar music, pondering whether it’s possible to go home again. The first teaser for Netflix’s Full House reboot has landed, and it’s a manipulative (and effective) callback to fans’ fondest memories of the ’80s and ’90s family sitcom. That’s because while fans are treated to memorable San Francisco settings, ranging from the Golden Gate Bridge to the Tanner residence’s “Painted Lady” Victorian exterior, the only cast member seen in this “Fuller House” trailer, released Thursday, is an adorable puppy. As the cast prepares to make an entrance, Netflix announces the release date: Feb. 26. “Full House” ran on ABC for eight seasons, from September 22, 1987, to May 23, 1995, and endlessly in syndication.

Most of their cast mates from the original series – Bob Saget, John Stamos, Dave Coulier and Lori Loughlin – will guest star in select episodes of the show. Yet, in addition to the dulcet tones of Miranda Lambert’s “The House That Built Me,” viewers can hear the voices of many fan favorites — including Uncle Jesse (John Stamos), Danny (Bob Saget) and Uncle Joey (Dave Coulier), D.J. (Candace Cameron Bure) and Stephanie (Jodie Sweetin) — just beyond the front door. Together, the trio will help raise Kimmy’s teenage daughter Ramona (Soni Nicole Bringas), and D.J.’s three sons, the rebellious Jackson (Michael Champion), the neurotic Max (Elias Harger) and the newborn Tommy Jr. It’s a little tough to decipher who’s who with all the character names they mention, but it’s safe to say the Tanner family has grown since they left us in 1995. For all we see of the old house, Netflix is still keeping its aged and new characters’ faces a secret—with one notable, furry exception: another adorable retriever.

It was a decision that left Stamos, who is also producing the series, “#heartbroken.” It was also Stamos who announced back in April, after much speculation, that Fuller House was officially going to be a reality and the close-knit cast would be together again on screen. That nostalgia kicks in big time when Danny intones, “Welcome home.” On the other side of the door, the aforementioned adorable puppy can barely contain its excitement: a totally deep metaphor for “Full House” super-fans everywhere. His big break was 2015’s “Granny.” According to a rundown in E!, Harger will play Max, who is “very smart and curious about the world, and takes after his grandpa Danny (Bob Saget).” The cheesy family fun remains in full force, but I have a bone to pick with the music choice on this trailer: Would Uncle Jesse really ever associate himself in any way with Miranda Lambert?
