Here’s our first look at Wet Hot American Summer prequel.

Netflix has released the first images of the much-anticipated prequel series to the 2001 big-screen comedy cult classic, which took place during the last day of camp for the counselors and staff at Camp Firewood in 1981.In 2001, David Wain and a gaggle of comedians and rising stars brought us the cult classic “Wet Hot American Summer,” which depicted the ludicrously overstuffed final day of summer camp in 1981.The 2001 comedy film has become a cult hit over the years, starring the likes of Amy Poehler, Bradley Cooper, Paul Rudd, Elizabeth Banks, and Janeane Garofalo. Jon Hamm, John Slattery, Kristen Wiig, Chris Pine, Jason Schwartzman, Jordan Peele and Josh Charles and a host of other A-listers have also packed their tube socks and bug spray for the eight-episode series.

Netflix announced the 8-episode limited-run series back in January, which is based on the 2001 cult classic starring Jeanine Garofolo, Molly Shannon, Paul Rudd and a then virtually-unknown Amy Poehler and Bradley Cooper. Jon Benjamin, Michael Ian Black, Bradley Cooper, Janeane Garofalo, Nina Hellman, David Hyde Pierce, Joe Lo Truglio, Ken Marino, AD Miles, Christopher Meloni , Marguerite Moreau, Zak Orth, Amy Poehler, Paul Rudd, Marisa Ryan, Molly Shannon and David Hyde Pierce. It will be a prequel to the film’s events — that means that the actors, who were already improbable as counselors back then, will be playing even younger versions of themselves.

There is also a possibility of the show continuing beyond those eight installments. “For us, the original move was about the notion of finishing unfinished business,” Wain said in today’s announcement. “That idea that you have one day to do all the things you wish you’d done but were too afraid. Now we’re in our 40s and our characters are even younger,” co-star Mchael Showalter said (quote via the Huffington Post). “The magical thing about summer camp is that you can leave your persona from home and become the person you really want to be.” I personally can’t wait to see Christopher Meloni be Gene, the certifiable mess hall cook, again. Nearly all of the original cast will return for the show (Elizabeth Banks appears to be frozen in time, as she looks the same in the photo below as she did 14 years ago).
