More Doctor Strange Set Photos Featuring Star Benedict Cumberbatch

Benedict Cumberbatch looks a bit different now that he’s started shooting Doctor Strange.

Apart from going blonde as Julian Assange in 2013’s The Fifth Estate, Cumberbatch usually looks more or less the same in each film, using the power of his mighty talent to transform himself as a good actor should. Following that initial, blurry pic of Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock, War Horse, Star Trek Into Darkness) preparing to shoot scenes as Doctor Strange, we now have a much clearer batch of images from the Nepal set of the Marvel flick. As you can see, Cumberbatch is not in costume, but what he is wearing is somewhat color-coded to match the blue and red of his comic book counterpart’s superhero outfit.

Most fans believe they are currently shooting Strange’s origin story, this scene specifically being before he has cured his mangled hands as bandages appear to be covering them. They’ve also gone with a fairly scraggly look for the character – at least for these scenes, which might just feature the Sorcerer Supreme searching for his mentor, The Ancient One (Tilda Swinton). Also, Cumberbatch’s dialect coach, Sarah Shepard, has been posting Instagram pics from the same shooting location, suggesting that Strange might just have an American accent. But actually, flashback sequence wouldn’t be that unlikely — after all, Stephen Strange did get that namedrop in “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” as a potential threat to U.S. government interests, so it stands to reason that he’s already got his powers by the time Marvel’s Phase 2 is chronologically over.
