‘Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials’ Trailer Previews Phase 2, What’s Left of the Outside World (Video).

The first trailer for the Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials has dropped, and Dylan O’Brien is back to try and lead his friends and fellow captives to safety while searching for answers about the powerful organization known as WCKD—the group responsible for keeping them in the maze. Dylan O’Brien, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Kaya Scodelario, Ki Hong Lee and Patricia Clarkson are once again part of the cast, which includes new faces such as Nathalie Emmanuel, Aidan Gillen, Rosa Salazar, Barry Pepper and Giancarlo Esposito.

September 17 may seem like lifetimes away right now, but this suitably epic trailer is definitely enough to tide us over for a while – mainly because it’s even better than we imagined it would be.People, it’s officially time to start getting excited for September, because we’ve gotten an exclusive first look at the second installment of the Maze Runner series, dished up by a slightly dirty (but always fit) Dylan O’Brien. Although the boys and one girl have managed to escape the maze trials, their new journey takes them to the Scorch, a post-apocalyptic, desolate landscaped filled with unimaginable obstacles and even more questions.

While the first Maze Runner film was action-packed from the start (a nice change considering most YA book adaptations concentrate on awkward romances and catchphrases), ‘Scorch Trials’ looks set to kick things up another, like, 12 notches. Although Dylan O’Brien’s Thomas and his friends are no longer trapped at the center of a maze behind mechanical walls, the outside world might be even more frightening. That’s right, the countdown is SO on for ‘Maze Runner: Scorch Trials’, and when our US friends were sent down to New Mexico on the set of the new film, we were dying to hear what exactly has been going down behind-the-scenes. Aiden Gillan (or Petyr Baelish to Game of Thrones fans) seems to be the leader at the Scorch, and just like his characters in the HBO series, he is as mysterious as ever.

As fans will know, the story picks up from the Gladers’ escape from the maze, where they’re faced with an entirely new threat – disease-ridden humans. Soon, the group realises that they’re being played, and venture out into ‘The Scorch’, which is like a Mad Max-lite type of landscape that happens to include loads of disease-ridden humans. While battling it out, they uncover that they might not have ever escaped the maze and realize that the people of the Scorch had plans for them all along.

Dylan O’Brien likens it to ‘The Walking Dead’, so you just know there’s going to be some bits that make us throw our popcorn all over the place. Joining Dylan for ‘Scorch Trials’ are the likes of Kaya Scodelario and Thomas Brodie-Sangster, who also gave some insight into the movie, explaining: “They’re thrown into this world, and with these people that tell us certain things. “We find out that those things aren’t necessarily the truth, and it’s all just a learning experience of trying to find out what the hell’s going on in this place.” And for anyone out there who’s scared about the translation from book to film, you really shouldn’t worry, as Dylan has reassured: “The book is insane, and we’re bringing a lot of that to the movie. “Of course, with what [director] Wes [Ball] does with it, it’s even cooler. The first look is far from lacking in action, with the gun-toting Gladers finding themselves running, fighting and doing whatever they can to escape WCKD and whatever forces might be trying to keep them contained in order to supposedly save humanity.
