‘He’s checking in… but not checking out’: New Girl’s Max Greenfield joins cast of American Horror Story: Hotel.

He’s starred in the light-hearted comedy New Girl for four seasons, but Max Greenfield is taking a much darker turn in his new role in the upcoming American Horror Story: Hotel.”This October, Max Greenfield (like you’ve never seen him) is checking in to the hotel …. but not checking out. #AHSHotel,” the show’s creator Ryan Murphy announced on Twitter Monday. The 34-year-old actor is the latest star announced to have joined the cast of the horror anthology series, with the next installment debuting in October on FX. Along for the horror ride with Greenfield, Bassett and Gaga, are Kathy Bates, Matt Bomer, Wes Bentley, Chloë Sevigny, Cheyenne Jackson, Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters.

According to Murphy, Greenfield—”like you’ve never seen him”—will join the show in October, but as Murphy teased, Greenfield won’t be “checking out.” So he either has a very permanent stay within the walls of the hotel, or he isn’t long for that world. On Friday, Lady Gaga posted a photo on Twitter that could possibly be from show’s set with the caption, “I heard you called for a blonde @MrRPMurphy #AHSHotel” We Know Where and Probably When: There was some question as to where the 5th season might take place and though we don’t have official confirmation within the world of American Horror Story, we do know that production is moving out of Louisiana (where it has been for the past two seasons) and back to Los Angeles.

Meanwhile, Max is making strides in his movie career as he is currently filming The Big Short alongside Brad Pitt, Christian Bale, Ryan Gosling, Karen Gillan, Selena Gomez and Steve Carell. In a Wrap interview, Sarah Paulson, who played Dot and Bette in the Freak Show, mentioned a few hints about her Hotel character. “I’ve never played any villain on the show, so perhaps there’s going to be an element on bad, bad girl,” Paulson tells host Greg Gilman during Drinking with the Stars: Emmy Edition. “Here’s the only thing I can give you … I am not playing Janis Joplin,” Paulson says. “I would love that, that would be amazing, but no, I am not doing that.” About working with Lady Gaga, Paulson expressed her enthusiasm – “I will not have succeeded in this season if I do not have a way of contacting her directly, like a cell phone number, by the end of the season,” Paulson says. “It will be very embarrassing to me if we don’t become really tight, close friends.” Supposedly, Gaga will play a lounge singer named Elisa Starr, who’s constantly competing with Angela Basset’s character, a jazz singer named Lolita Jones. Meanwhile, both Matt Bomer (White Collar) and Cheyenne Jackson will play bellboys – the former as Terry Castro, and the latter as the suspicious Thimas Seabras. The Canadian student was found drowned in a water tank, but a disturbing elevator surveillance video of her allegedly taken right before her death shows erratic behavior that some chalk up to drug use, and others to paranormal activity. Ryan Murphy has said before that the seasons are all linked so the fact that the Hotel Cecil (which has since rebranded as Stay on Main) not only reportedly housed serial killers Richard Ramirez in 1985 and Jack Unterweger in 1991, but also Beth Short a.k.a.

The confirmation from Ryan Murphy that the Top Hat motif in Season 4 was a massive “arcane” hint about Season 5 indicates that at the very least dancing, a la Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers in the 1935 musical Top Hat, might be in the cards. Could a hotel-hosted dancing competition—a la Strictly Ballroom or even They Shoot Horses, Don’t They?—set the scene for the horrors of the fifth season? Actors like Wes Bentley, Matt Bomer, and Chloe Sevigny—who have all appeared in at least one previous season—will be back as series regulars for Season 5.
